Sunshine Coast horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:07) Tab Stradbroke Season Handicap (1000m)
#2 – Psychiatrist @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The two-year-old colt didn’t fire on debut at Randwick, but he has trialed well since and that’s a good sign.
He is a well-bred son of Exceed and Excel that has shown excellent form at the trials and he has been smashed in the betting.
The $1.90 is a fair price and those odds could shorten.
Race 2. (12:42) BRC Girls Day Out C3 (1400m)
#5 – Palladas @ $1.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Taking $1.50 for any runner isn’t easy, but Palladas should be beating this field with ease.
The Tony Gollan-trained four-year-old was only a length behind a nice type last start and he’s knocking on the door.
Include him in multi bets.
Race 3. (13:17) Southern Pacific Sands BM85 (2200m)
#3 – Chocolatier @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Chocolatier is getting close to a win after posting a placing at Doomben last start behind Seat of Power.
The seven-year-old gelding gets every chance here with only 54kg on his back and he’ll use the inside draw to his advantage.
Punters get each-way odds to enjoy.
Race 4. (13:53) Global Turf Handicap (1600m)
#10 – Canadian Dancer @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old filly broke maidens with a two-length victory at Ipswich last start and she could kick on with it.
She started her career with consecutive second placings and considering she paid $2.20 last start, the $3.20 is a value price.
Barrier 11 isn’t ideal but she has time to find cover over the mile.
Race 5. (14:33) Fulton Hogan C6 Handicap (1600m)
#7 – Wolf Moon @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Wolf Moon is a four-time winner from eight starts, including three wins at Sunshine Coast.
The talented four-year-old scored narrowly on this track last time out and dropping to 52kg should see his excellent form continue.
It’s a good field but he could be a runner worth following.
Race 6. (15:13) Martin Collins Australia BM90 (1400m)
#1 – Ef Troop – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ef Troop comes off an overdue win at Doomben and he’s good enough to kick on with it.
The six-year-old has yet to fire over the longer distances, but this race is there for the taking and we like his chances.
It could pay to watch for any market moves on race day.
Race 7. (15:53) Polytrack Handicap (1000m)
#5 – Zuma California @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Zuma California was beaten for the first time in three starts at Doomben, but he wasn’t disgraced with the effort.
The three-year-old son of Statue of Liberty finished 1.5 lengths behind Far Too Easy and we expect that form to stack up well.
Getting 2kg off his back helps, so put him on top.
Race 8. (16:32) Fibretrack BM72 (1000m)
#3 – Osamu @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Osamu is getting close to scoring an overdue win after running second at Doomben behind Gogol last time out.
He was beaten by only a nose, so it was a fine effort in defeat and we expect his first win in Queensland to come very soon.
Punters often get value odds and getting 2kg off his back adds to our confidence levels.
Race 9. (17:12) Leaders Equine Surfaces 1MW (1200m)
#10 – Ventura Queen @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ventura Queen is a two-time winner fresh up and a three-time winner over the distance.
The Kris Lees-trained gelding didn’t show his best form in Sydney, but he should appreciate this level of racing.
After opening at $9, his odds have firmed and it’s not surprising.
