Sunshine Coast horse racing tips
Race 1. (18:45) Pryde’s Easifeed Maiden (2200m)
#10 – Zamosa – Bet Now
Four-year-old mare Zamosa produced a good performance for second at Lismore last start and she’s knocking on the door.
The daughter of Alamosa owns two placings from five starts and she doesn’t have much to beat in this field.
Getting in at 55.5kg is going to help her chances and we’re confident she’ll break maiden grades in quick time.
Race 2. (19:15) Tab BM62 (1000m)
#5 – Shinshinto – Bet Now
David Murphy lines up the gelding that was too good for them at Gold Coast last start.
The son of Golden Archer won by 1.3 lengths after sitting just off the speed throughout the race. It was a good victory and it came on an unsuitable wet surface.
He gets improved track conditions this time around and he’ll be right in the thick of the action off the inside draw.
He should be one of the best-backed runners in this race.
Race 3. (19:45) Coastline BMW Handicap (1000m)
#3 – Mishani Spirit – Bet Now
The three-year-old filly looked good winning her first two starts and it could pay to forgive her most recent outing.
She scored a debut win at Toowoomba by four lengths before winning by 2.3 lengths at Gold Coast over a speedy field.
She entered a race at Doomben as a $12 chance and ran accordingly. The daughter of Jet Spur went forward but compounded late to finish last.
It was a hot field on that occasion and this is easier.
Race 4. (20:15) Higgins BM62 (1000m)
#2 – Scarlet’s Choice – Bet Now
A winner of six races, Scarlet’s Choice is in career best form. She has won two of her last three races and finished second in the other.
The wins came at Dalby and Sunshine Coast where she led throughout and kicked clear on the home turn.
If she can produce a similar effort here, she could kick away again, and punters will be getting good odds once again.
Race 5. (20:45) The Branding Office C3 Handicap (1800m)
#12 – Sky One – Bet Now
Getting the inside in a race like this is key and Sky One has it. The six-year-old might only be a three-time winner but he has good form this season.
He scored a win at Beaudesert in November by a half-length before placing later that month and again in December.
He could start 2020 with a bang and punters will get generous odds.
Race 6. (21:15) Authentic Security BM72 (1200m)
#7 – Boom Boy – Bet Now
Boom Boy is a winner of three from 20 starts and he has another 11 placings to his name.
Trained by Tony Gollan, the five-year-old son of Sequalo resumed this season with a second placing at Toowoomba and it should hold him in good stead for this.
He is a noted second-up performer with three starts for a win and a placing. Punters should expect improvement to come and he gets a nice barrier.
Race 7. (21:45) Butler McDermott Lawyers C1 (1400m)
#7 – Vanna Girl – Bet Now
Vanna Girl has been impressive in two career starts to date. She finished second on debut at Gold Coast before winning at Gold Coast last month.
There was plenty of money on her as the $1.70 favourite but punters should be getting a more generous price from bookmakers this time around.
Team Edmonds does the training and if she can get some cover from barrier 14, she will be right in the thick of the action.
Race 8. (22:15) Tab C1 Handicap (1400m)
#4 – Battle Plane – Bet Now
Battle Plane was a winner when last seen in August and although off the scene for some time, he could make a winning return.
The four-year-old won by a narrow margin at Beaudesert and has been primed with two trial placings at Doomben since.
That form should be good enough to see him run close at each-way odds.
