With fine weather hitting the Sunshine State this week, conditions are expected to be ideal for this midweek meet.
Sunshine Coast free tips & form
Race 1. (12:33) Oaks Hotels BM75 (1800m)
#5 – Veni Vidi Vici – Bet Now
The small field of five runners should help this five-year-old mare which was too good for them last time out.
She’s a four-win mare which scored a narrow but gutsy win at Sunshine Coast last start. Having that winning experience on this track helps and carrying a light weight also helps.
Looks a nice chance in a compact field.
Race 2. (13:08) Wimmers Soft Drinks Maiden (1200m)
#1 – Benno First – Bet Now
Benno First could come first here as it’s not a very strong field. The four-year-old horse comes into this having finished third at Ipswich last time out.
That form should hold up nicely and it’s only a matter of time before he wins his maiden race.
Drawn a touch awkwardly but Corey Bayliss is a capable rider.
Race 3. (13:43) TAB Maiden Plate (1200m)
#8 – Poetic Choice – Bet Now
Looking to improve on some solid recent form, Poetic Choice could cap off three placings from three starts with a win.
The Les Ross-trained runner ran two lengths behind the winner at Sunshine Coast last start and that came behind a couple of nice types.
Tough draw but Brad Stewart should head forward and try run them into the ground.
Race 4. (14:18) Hot 91 BM70 (1000m)
#3 – The Tenor – Bet Now
Kelly Schweida lines up the talented three-year-old which didn’t fire in two starts last campaign but has more talent than that.
The son of Your Song has been prepared with a 3.5-length trial win at Doomben and that’s going to hold him in good stead for this.
Baylee Nothdurft takes some weight off his back and he should be right in the thick of the action.
Race 5. (14:53) Sky Racing Maiden Plate (1200m)
#2 – Heritage Sash – Bet Now
Heritage Sash looks set to win a race soon after scoring three placings from three starts.
The Toby Edmonds-trained gelding ran only two lengths behind the winner last start after settling well off the pace. With a better ride from Ryan Maloney here, he should be able to settle closer.
Like most Edmonds-trained runners, we’re expecting him to be well-backed in the market.
Race 6. (15:28) Coastline BMW C4 (1400m)
#5 – Mina Harker – Bet Now
Mina Harker is a consistent runner with three wins and four placings from 17 starts. The five-year-old mare doesn’t often run well second up but that was a nice effort last start.
She ran a half-length behind the winner and she’s going to get every chance from the inside draw with only 54kg on her back.
Tricky field but she has upside.
Race 7. (16:03) Access Insulation BM70 (1200m)
#1 – Coral Bay – Bet Now
Coral Bay was a touch disappointing last start but he’s a two-win gelding second up and he’s second up for this.
The Stuart Kendrick-trained runner finished six lengths behind the winner at Doomben last start but punters should be expecting a much better effort now.
Five-time winner with some class on his side.
Race 8. (16:38) XXXX Gold BM70 (1200m)
#6 – Reef Knot – Bet Now
Reef Knot is a smart type on her day and the three-time winner could get back to a winning mode here.
The four-year-old mare produced back-to-back wins earlier this season and her form has been solid since with two placings.
Gets the inside draw which is a big bonus and she should be tough to beat.
