The 2019 Surround Stakes is one of the more even Group 1 contests we’ve seen in some time and that results in good dividends for punters.
Money is with the three fancied runners in the field and it has been an interesting market to date.
We have our best bets, form and odds for every runner in the 2019 Surround Stakes at Randwick this Saturday.

Surround Stakes Form Guide & Tips
El Dorado Dreaming (Best Each Way – $15) – Bet Now
Quality filly on her day and although she has won only one of her 10 career starts to date, the Kris Lees-trained runner could cause a minor upset here.
She has won and placed from three starts at Randwick and she was only 1.6 lengths behind Nakeeta Jane last time out in the Group 2 Light Fingers. That should be a good form guide for this.
Seabrook ($20) – Bet Now
Fresh up here after showing good talent last campaign when running second behind Ringerdingding in the Sandown Guineas.
Unsure if that form is going to be best for this but punters should be respecting her talents.
Oohood ($19) – Bet Now
Another one-win filly but that came at Group 1 level and she has never escaped the top grade throughout her 13-start career.
Trained by Tony McEvoy, the three-year-old was unsighted when running 10th against similar opposition last start and it’s tough to see her turning that form around.
Can’t discount her but she needs to lift.
Fiesta ($5) – Bet Now
Terrific win when beating 2018 Golden Slipper winner Estijaab in the Inglis Sprint last time out at Warwick Farm.
Those two cleared out and although she rises in weight and is drawn deep in barrier 15, punters should respect her ability.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see her start as the favourite.
Fundamentalist ($13) – Bet Now
Encouraging performance when third behind Australian Guineas favourite Amphitrite last start in the Manfred Stakes.
Form out of Melbourne doesn’t always stack up well in Sydney but she’s a filly with quality and she could run well here. Unplaced in all three starts at Randwick.
Greysful Glamour ($51) – Bet Now
2.4 lengths behind Nakeeta Jane last time out but was battling at the line. Needs to find a few lengths to compete at the Group 1 level.
Nakeeta Jane (Best Bet – $5.50) – Bet Now
Looked like a filly which was heading places when winning the Light Fingers last start and the penny might have dropped with the daughter of So You Think.
She has won two of her four starts and the other two runs resulted in close up placings behind Brilliant Choice and Oohood.
She has more improvement to come and should go well here.
Miss Fabulass ($10) – Bet Now
Looked above average when she first started racing but she has come back to earth since. Ninth in a similar race last start and she has seemingly lost her winning touch.
The Frankel progeny are relatively suspect as they get older and we’re unsure about the odds on offer. We would want double-figure odds.
Melt ($26) – Bet Now
Former New Zealand filly which won four from eight starts across the Tasman and that included some impressive performances.
Two lengths behind Nakeeta Jane when fresh up for the Waller stables and that wasn’t a bad performance given the circumstances.
Each way hope at the odds.
Madam Rouge ($13) – Bet Now
Almost caused an upset when running second in the Light Fingers and that appears to be the best form guide coming into this.
Has placed in only one of four starts at Randwick, which is the concern, but she gets a good draw and Blake Shinn usually gets his rides into the right position.
Pohutakawa ($5) – Bet Now
Best-backed runner in the field having opened at $6. The James Cummings-trained filly ran on stylishly last start and that came following her win at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
That came on a heavy track and with the Randwick surface currently been rated in the soft range, that’s going to suit the daughter of Medaglia D’oro.
Mizzy ($18) – Bet Now
Raced only a week ago and narrowly got the job done at Canterbury. Would need to improve on that run and although she was strong at the line, she’s facing a much harder field here.
Too short in the betting for our liking.
Zalette ($13) – Bet Now
Has firmed in from an opening quote of $23 and that’s likely due to the soft track. She has won all three starts, including one on a rain-affected track and it’s tough to overlook that form.
She could mature into a nice type but remaining unbeaten at the Group 1 level is another kettle of fish.
Sister Sledge (Best Roughie – $21) – Bet Now
Impressive 6.3-length winner at Hawkesbury last start and although this is some rise in class, her tactical speed was good.
She ran third behind Estijaab this time last year so she has form against classy types and that should show up here.
Nice odds on offer and she could inject some speed into this.
Symi ($91) – Bet Now
Not fancied in the betting and rightfully so. Sixth in a weak race at Canterbury last start and she has been safely held this season.
