T.J. Smith Stakes Form Guide & Tips
Redzel ($8.50) Bet Now
Disappointing last time out at Rosehill and he hasn’t quite come back in top order.
The multiple Everest winner is a 14-time winner and that should be respected, but he looks held on his current form.
Trapeze Artist (Best Bet – $4.20) Bet Now
Connections have put a stud career on hold for the meantime and we can see why. The son of Snitzel won at Group 1 level last start and he has more success coming.
He’s a seven-time winner from 19 starts which has a better turn-of-foot than most in this race, but also has the ability to sit close to the speed.
Still slightly underrated and we’ll take the odds on offer.
Santa Ana Lane ($7) Bet Now
Proven Group 1 performer which wasn’t too far behind Sunlight last start at Flemington and he has run well at Randwick in the past.
Has been primed with a recent trial performance at Randwick and punters haven’t missed him in the betting.
He usually pays better odds but punters have become wiser about this talented type.
Pierata ($6) Bet Now
We were confident he would run a big race last start and he did when running second behind Nature Strip.
He hit the line with real purpose and although he’s better over 1400m, he’s unbeaten from three starts at this track and distance.
That bodes well and conditions should suit nicely. Don’t rule out.
Vega Magic ($18) Bet Now
Would have been favourite for this race not too long ago. Has gone off the boil a touch and this is a tough race to win fresh up.
Double-figure odds appeal.
Ball Of Muscle (Best Roughie – $41) Bet Now
Ridiculously over the odds at $41. He defeated a smart field at Randwick last start and that was his first start after sitting out five months due to a bleeding attack.
Drawing wide won’t help, but if he can cross and get a soft lead, he’s a good chance of running in the money for the 27th time in his career.
Osborne Bulls ($4.60) Bet Now
He’s a runner you can’t help but love and he looms as a big winning chance in this. The James Cummings-trained gelding has finished second in two starts back from a spell and he’s warming up nicely.
He has won and placed in two runs on this track and punters know he will get back and storm home late. Good winning chance but we can’t tip them all.
Fell Swoop ($61) Bet Now
Has had its chance this season to impress but finds itself unable to beat this quality of opposition.
Inside draw might work against it.
Shoals ($11) Bet Now
Good run behind Trapeze Artist last start and that’s a good form guide for this. She is a classy mare which has another big run on the horizon.
It could come here and punters are getting good odds to find out just how good she is.
Champagne Cuddles ($81) Bet Now
Bjorn Baker continues to line her up in tough races but she’s not good enough to win at Group 1 level.
Best suited in much easier races and her odds reflect that.
Sunlight (Best Each Way – $8.50) Bet Now
She’s a champion in the making, if not one already. 10 wins from 15 starts and more than $4.1 million in the bank.
Has won three Group 1’s from her last four starts and if she had drawn a better barrier, she would be the favourite for this race.
She has explosive barrier speed and if she crosses to the rail, she will take some catching. Looks a good each-way bet.
