TAB Classic (NZ) Tips for Trifecta
Punters should have five runners on their ticket for the TAB Classic trifecta. We recommend taking a boxed percentage trifecta. Spend what you want, and the payouts can be massive.

- Callsign Mav
- Riodini
- Brando
- Habana

TAB Classic (NZ) Tips for First-Four
We have included seven runners for our TAB Classic first-four. Boxing all seven selections for a percentage can still result in a huge payout, and you spend what you want.

- Desert Lightning
- Fashion Shoot

TAB Classic (NZ) Form Guide & Tips
1. Callsign Mav (Best Each – $12)
He didn’t handle the heavy conditions last start, but the classy type can’t be overlooked at the doublr figure odds.
We’re happy to include him in our selections.
2. Aegon ($4.80)
Aegon is taking his time to get back to winning form, but he has $1.8 million in the bank.
His form in Australia was mixed, but he comes off a sixth behind Mr Brightside, which is excellent form for racing in New Zealand.
His best form should return.
3. Brando ($16)
Another runner that has promised to win recently, but he’s good enough to figure in the finish at attractive odds.
We’re putting him at $16.
4. Prise de Fer ($9)
We are unsure if Prise de Fer is racing because he has no listed jockey. If he’s in the field, he should be a win or place chance.
5. He’s a Doozy ($20)
He’s not running well enough this preparation after showing very little. We can’t include him.
6. Platinum Invador ($20)
We prefer to back Platinum Invador over longer distances, so we’re going to leave him out. However, he should be hitting the line hard late.
7. Belardo Boy ($46)
Mixing his form, and he comes off a tidy second placing. It didn’t come at this level, so he could struggle to show his best.
8. Riodini (Best Roughie – $21)
Riodini is getting back to his best form after doing most of his racing in Australia.
He didn’t enjoy conditions at Tauranga last start, and he should find this more to his liking, so take the value odds.
9. Habana ($7)
Habana owns seven wins from 14 starts, including a classy win at Pukekohe last time out.
The five-year-old son of Zoustar has been respected in betting markets at $7, so we’re not leaving him out.
10. Lightning Jack ($31)
He owns three placings from three starts at Trentham, but we think he’ll struggle to handle this level of racing.
The odds are spot on.
11. Desert Lightning ($9.50)
We’re not leaving out Desert Lightning, who won well at Pukekohe two back before placing at Tauranga. The four-year-old has plenty of upside, and it’s good enough to handle this Group 1 field.
12. Matscot ($41)
He’s a two-time winner this preparation, but he needs to find a few lengths to beat this field.
13. Fashion Shoot ($11)
It’s hard to rule out Te Akau runners, so we’ve found room for Fashion Shoot in our first four selections. Opie Bosson rides, and he’s the best going around.
14. Malt Time ($10)
She ran third last time out, but we don’t think that will be the best form guide for this race. Getting the inside draw helps but the odds are too short.
15. Faraglioni ($16)
A winner two back at Trentham before placing behind Campionessa. That’s a solid form guide, but we’re not sure if she’s at Group 1 level.
16. Town Cryer ($11)
A two-time winner at Trentham and four-time winner over the distance. Just needs to rise to another level to go close.
17. Flower of Wanaka ($35)
Only a two-time winner and we can’t see her running well enough to score.
