Taree racing tips

Race 1. (13:25) Happy Birthday June Ruby Baker Maiden (1000m)

#5 – Exceed Me

Exceed Me owns two third placings from three starts, including last time out at Taree.

The three-year-old son of Exceedance has enough ability to put this field away, as there isn’t much depth to this field.

Look for a betting push on race day.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (14:00) Bakewell Haulage C1 (1600m)

#8 – Jamacri

The five-year-old mare owns a win and three placings from six starts, and they usually run well at these meetings from the Northam stable.

The daughter of Pride of Dubai ran second at Quirindi fresh up before struggling last start, but a bounce back effort is likely.

Reece Jones is riding well, so include her in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (14:35) J&L Cross Maiden (1300m)

#7 – Smashing Nova

It has been a solid start to the career of Smashing Nova, who ran third on debut at Muswellbrook before adding two fourths at Coff Harbour and Scone.

The three-year-old son of Brave Smash wasn’t close to the winner fresh up, but he is always going to improve with time under his belt.

He comes from the Kris Lees stable, which is a bonus.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (15:10) Dillon Rural C1 (1300m)

#6 – Trounce

We liked the way Trounce finished over the top of them at Taree last time out to win by a length.

The Lees-trained four-year-old could rise through the grades now that she’s broken through, and she will enjoy the slight rise in distance.

We expect money to come for her on race day, so take the opening odds.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (15:45) Taree & Wingham Products BM66 (1250m)

#15 – Wandjina Rose

A runner who could pay a handsome price is Wandjina Rose, who has been running good races for most of the season.

The Brad Munro-trained mare won back-to-back races at Taree and Ballina earlier this prep, so something close to those efforts would be good enough.

Dropping to 52.5kg makes her a winning threat.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (16:25) Coolriver Cattle Co BM82 (1600m)

#7 – Uncle Harry

Uncle Harry has hit a purple patch of form after posting two wins and two placings from his last five starts.

The Paul Perry-trained five-year-old won at Newcastle two back before placing at Wyong, and having provincial form bodes well for racing at Taree.

He usually pays each-way odds, so include him in horse racing picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (17:05) Vale David Maurice Stack BM58 (1000m)

#12 – Lily Bobtail

Looking to cap off three consecutive placings is Lily Bobtail, who owns a win and nine placings overall.

The five-year-old mare by Harry Angel is a three-time placegetter at Taree from only four starts, and we believe her form is going under the radar.

She’s worth backing at the odds.

Stake: 1 Unit
