Tarzino Trophy Form Guide & Tips
1. Callsign Mav ($31)
He didn’t show up in three runs last preparation and we can’t see that changing here.
2. Dragon Leap ($7)
A quality type coming off two wins. He’s the fitter runner in the field, so we’re including him in our selections at the each-way odds.
3. Brando ($27)
Not up to Group 1 level, and he didn’t show enough fresh up. Wait for something much easier.
4. He’s a Doozy ($27)
A nice type on its day but he’s in the same camp as Brando. He’s looking for something much easier than this red-hot field.
5. Gospodin ($46)
Drawn wide and unlikely to figure in the finish.
6. Spring Tide ($51)
It might be looking for longer distances, so watch out for him later in the spring.
7. Sharp ‘N’ Smart (Best Each Way – $7)
A champion New Zealand Derby winner who showed his talents in Australia. He’s a slick type and he’s good enough to win over 1400m.
Punters get good each-way odds to enjoy.
8. Pier (Best Roughie – $15)
Got a little lost last start but he hit the line nicely. Classy runner on his day, and we’re happy to take the odds available.
9. La Crique ($6)
It goes well fresh up and she will be looking to find the front from a wide barrier.
Six wins and six placings from 14 starts, so there is still plenty of upside with the five-year-old mare.
10. Belclare ($14)
She hit the line nicely fresh up and that could be a good form guide. A six-time winner at the distance, so there is good upside.
Goes into first four calculations.
11. Aromatic ($46)
Ended last prep with consecutive wins but she’s looking for more ground.
12. Malt Time ($81)
Big odds available and rightfully so. Shouldn’t be getting close to them.
13. Legarto (Best Bet – $3.40)
The star of the field after winning six of her seven starts, including the Australian Guineas. Unbeaten in two fresh up starts and she could blow them away.
Look for a patient ride from Ryan Elliot.
14. Pennyweka ($27)
She won the Australian Oaks last preparation, but she’s looking for future.
Watch her later in the spring when she heads to Australia.
15. Lickety Split ($20)
She has enough speed to beat this field, but she needs to find the rail. That could be tough from out wide.
16. Skew Wiff ($10)
Battled on gamely last time out. A first-four inclusion with Bosson riding.
17. Mali Ston ($35)
Disappointing fresh and he’s unlikely to run well.
