Telegraph Form Guide & Tips
(1) Waitak ($10.00)
He is a Group 1 Railway winner, so he can’t be overlooked despite not winning this season.
The O’Sullivan/Scott stable is firing on all cylinders, and given the odds, we’re happy to include him in our first four picks.
(2) Crocetti (Best Bet – $7.50)
The eight-time winner from 12 starts hasn’t been at his best recently, but he’s all class, and he could enjoy running at Trentham for the first time.
He will find the front off the inside draw and we don’t think he’ll get run down.
(3) Sacred Satono ($14.00)
He’s another classy type, but he might get run off his feet here. Because of the quality of the field, we’re having to leave him out of calculations.
Having Michael McNab in the saddle helps, but drawing barrier 12 doesn’t help his chances.
(4) Mercurial ($18.00)
Better when second last time out but this is a strong field, and we’re happy to leave him out of our selections.
(5) Ifndoubtgetout ($35.00)
The eight-year-old is a two-time winner at Trentham, but he’s not running well enough to cope with the pressure of this field.
(6) Navigator ($27.00)
He’s a nice type but at levels lower than this. He won his only start on the track but winning at Group 1 level could be beyond him at this stage.
(7) Master Fay ($34.00)
His fresh up form reads well, and he hasn’t too far behind the winners in two of his three starts last preparation.
Barrier three is ideal and we’re surprised by the odds, so we’re including him in first four picks to boost payouts.
(8) Platinum Attack ($35.00)
The Lisa Latta-trained runner got back to winning form at Trentham last start, but he didn’t face a Group 1-level field.
(9) Babylon Berlin (Best Roughie – $10.00)
She is a speedster who was considered good enough to go to Australia, and she is already a two-time winner this campaign.
The seven-year-old mare defeated Waitak at Ellerslie last time out and she owns two placings at Trentham, so she can’t be left out of calculations.
(10) Bonny Lass ($12.00)
She was a nice winner fresh up but she has been held since. Punters need to respect her ability, but this field is too hot, so we’re leaving her out.
(11) Skew Wiff ($5.00)
She could be the best four-time winner around, and although she doesn’t always win, she’s always around the mark.
$5.00 is too short for our liking, but we’re not leaving her out of multiples, because she doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
(12) Grail Seeker ($4.60)
The Telegraph favourite won her only start last preparation at Hastings, and although we wouldn’t have made her the favourite, she demands respect.
The four-year-old came of age last season and she has been confidently backed to win, which we’re paying attention to.
(13) Luberon (Best Each Way – $7.50)
Getting $7.50 for Luberon is too good to overlook, and she has been one of the best sprinters in New Zealand this preparation.
She’s gunning for four consecutive wins after scoring at Pukekohe by 2.5 lengths behind Sacred Satono. It was a brilliant win, and her odds should be shorter.
(14) Idyllic ($46.00)
Her form earlier this preparation was good but she might need something much easier than this field.
