The Hunter Form Guide & Tips
1. Trumbull ($5.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
The equal favourite following his last-start win at Randwick. It was a nice effort but he doesn’t race as well second-up.
He also needs to contend with a wide barrier, which will hurt his chances.
2. Gaulois ($41) Bet @ Sportsbet
Not in the best form this season after two attempts. Better when sixth last start but punters can leave him out of the equation.
3. Ranier (Best Bet – $4.60) Bet @ Sportsbet
The James Cummings-trained runner looks ready to go after two pleasing efforts this campaign.
He is a six-time winner that has yet to miss the money at this distance, so the 1300m looks ideal and he has attracted attention with bookmakers.
He opened at $7 and Ranier should give punters a good sight.
4. Special Reward ($19) Bet @ Sportsbet
Backed and beaten a few times this preparation, so punters have lost some confidence. Nice odds on offer for multiples.
5. Tactical Advantage ($26) Bet @ Sportsbet
Not finding his best form this season and despite being trained on the track, he would need to regain his confidence.
$26 is a fair price and drawing barrier five is ideal, but he’s just not running well enough to consider.
6. Sweet Deal ($12) Bet @ Sportsbet
Sweet Deal wants a dry track and she should get conditions to suit. She has seven wins on a good surface and not much has gone right for her this season.
Getting double-figure odds is generous and she is a firm player for first-four selections.
7. Chief Ironside (Best Roughie – $18) Bet @ Sportsbet
Couldn’t quite keep up against strong opposition at Flemington. However, this is easier than Group 1 racing and he has upside.
James McDonald is looking to secure a big win and if the real Chief Ironside turns up, he should run close.
8. Fiesta ($7) Bet @ Sportsbet
Fiesta has looked mightily impressive winning her last two starts at Caulfield and Flemington. She loved running down the straight last start, but drawing barrier 18 makes it hard.
She will need luck to figure in the finish.
9. Redouble ($19) Bet @ Sportsbet
A tough customer that is rarely too far away from the prize. He finished second behind It’s Me last start, and we’re expecting that form to hold up.
Not the worst in this race and he’s another value runner.
10. Cuba (Best Each Way – $10) Bet @ Sportsbet
Led them a merry chase at Randwick and there was plenty to like about that run. He held off a quality field and although drawn barrier 17, he can use his gate speed.
$10 is a value price from bookmakers for a confident type.
11. Signore Fox ($17) Bet @ Sportsbet
It wasn’t a bad run behind Trumbull last start and getting the inside draw could see him figure in the finish.
A recent trial winner and punters shouldn’t leave him out.
12. Brave Song ($41) Bet @ Sportsbet
His best form appears to be behind him after some disappointing recent efforts. Talented at best, but a win would be a surprise.
13. El Dorado Dreaming ($51) Bet @ Sportsbet
A one-race winner that continues to face quality fields, but she clearly wants something easier. Always a threat, but take on trust.
14. Evalina ($21) Bet @ Sportsbet
Form doesn’t appear to be overly impressive but she hasn’t been too hard away this campaign.
She owns two placings from three attempts at Newcastle and we wouldn’t be completely ruling her out.
15. Asiago ($17) Bet @ Sportsbet
A winner earlier this campaign before struggling to find her best. Drawn wide and she will need to rely on a fair amount of luck.
Sambro – $46
Glenall – $101
Inanup – $51
Royal Celebration – $61
