Thursday horse racing tips

Hawkesbury

Race 1. (13:50) Bottlemart Maiden (1100m)

#2 – Nasturtium @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The four-year-old has been patiently handled and the son of Snitzel could make a winning debut.

He looked good at the trials when finishing third behind Segal and the betting support has come. He opened at $2.35, so it’s a sizable betting move.

That’s a good sign, so put the favourite in the mix.

Race 3. (15:05) Westbury Constructions C1 (1800m)

#5 – Bedford Square @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Bedford Square was too good for them at Wyong and she’s good enough to notch back-to-back wins.

The Matthew Smith-trained daughter of Tavistock owns one win and six placings from 10 starts, so she’s rarely out of the money.

Barrier two sees her find a good position and punters are getting fair odds.

Race 5. (16:20) Complete Its Group BM64 (1400m)

#1 – Mr Bond @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Brad Widdup-trained gelding owns three wins from nine starts and he should be tough to hold out.

He scored back-to-back wins last campaign at Wyong and Hawkesbury, so having winning experience on the track is ideal.

His best form comes over longer distances, but punters should take the each-way odds available.

Race 7. (17:35) HRC Motel Conditional BM68 (1100m)

#1 – Lepreezy @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Annabel Neasham lines up the five-year-old mare who has an excellent winning record in Queensland.

The five-year-old owns nine wins and five placings from 19 starts, so she is being given the chance to test herself against stronger opposition.

3kg comes off her back and we wouldn’t be leaving her out of calculations.

Kyneton

Race 1. (13:30) Furphy Crisp Lager Maiden (1875m)

#6 – Tobytoff @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Keys-trained son of Toorak Toff is knocking on the door after five placings from nine starts, so the betting support isn’t surprising.

He comes off a second placing at Kyneton behind Stiller, which should be a good form guide at this level of racing.

It’s not an overly strong field and he could take advantage.

Race 3. (14:30) Hygain Maiden (1112m)

#11 – War of Wisdom @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The three-year-old filly makes her debut after scoring a trial win at Tatura. Form out of the Tatura trials typically stacks up well on debut and the money has come.

Her opening odds of $4.40 have been confidently backed into $3.90, so punters should use that betting move as a guide.

We expect to see more money come for her on race day.

Race 4. (15:00) Bet365 Racing Refunds Maiden (1212m)

#14 – My Artemis @ $2.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

My Artemis is another debutante having won a trial at Tatura. The three-year-old filly won by two lengths, so it was a dominant trial performance.

She is a daughter of Written Tycoon who is bred for speed, so we’re expecting a tidy debut effort and she has been heavily backed.

Bookmakers opened her at $2.60, so follow the money.

Race 6. (16:00) Miranda Park BM58 (1112m)

#5 – French Star @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

French Star is shooting for three consecutive wins after scoring at Benalla and Kyneton.

The five-year-old mare has yet to finish worse than second in two starts at Kyneton, so there is every reason to back her.

1.5kg comes off her back to help with the big weight and the $5 is a fair price.
