Thursday horse racing tips

Werribee

Race 1. (13:30) Evergreen Turf Maiden (1008m)

#5 – Lord Paramount @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lord Paramount looked good when running second on debut at Nowra before finishing well enough at Caulfield.

The Maher/Eustace-trained three-year-old was only 4.2 lengths behind River Views and he has since finished third in a trial.

Most of the early money has come his way and that should continue on race day.

Race 3. (14:30) IRT Maiden Plate (1616m)

#9 – The Psychologist @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Mike Moroney-trained gelding comes off consecutive placings against much harder opposition.

He was only a half-length behind the winner at Moonee Valley last start and we’re not surprised by the weight of money coming for him.

$2.40 is a respectable price for a nice type in the making.

Race 5. (15:30) Tobin Brothers BM58 (2025m)

#1 – Inthelapofthegods @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Most of the early money has come for the favourite, who owns two wins and eight placings from 15 starts.

The five-year-old son of Sidestep has been in solid form this preparation and he is the best horse in the race.

Carrying a big weight over this distance isn’t easy, but $3 is a price worth taking.

Race 7. (16:30) Tab C1 Handicap (1416m)

#2 – Better Tomorrow @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Henry Dwyer lines up Better Tomorrow, who scored a win at Echuca two back before finishing third at Werribee.

Having recent form on this track is ideal and racing against this level of opposition shouldn’t be too tough for him.

The son of Lonhro demands respect and punters should enjoy taking the value odds.

Coffs Harbour

Race 2. (13:50) AJ Civil Projects BM58 (1012m)

#1 – Royal Exit @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Royal Exit looked good fresh up when winning at Scone fresh up and his winning form could continue.

The four-year-old son of Vancouver has been given 63kg to carry, but he comes back in weight with the 3kg claim from Bailey Wheeler.

Most of the early money has come for Royal Exit, which is a good sign.

Race 3. (14:25) Summer Cup BM66 (2015m)

#3 – Schoona the Better @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The five-year-old didn’t fire at Gosford last time out but we’re prepared to forgive that effort.

He looked much better prior to that when winning at Tamworth and Wyong, including a win in heavy conditions.

Getting 3kg off his back could tip the scales in his favour, so put him on top.

Race 6. (16:15) Park Beach Plumbing C1 (1012m)

#6 – Phule @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Phule did the job on debut when winning at Tamworth by just under a length and that win rates highly.

The Kris Lees-trained filly has since had two trials, including a second placing at Wyong, so she is well-prepared for this contest.

It’s another premium ride for Bailey Wheeler and the 3kg claim, so we expect the daughter of Shalaa to be in the thick of the action again.

Race 7. (16:50) Paradigm Homes C2 Handicap (1615m)

#1 – Luz Long @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Luz Long is always around the mark with 11 starts for a win and seven placings, so we’re not leaving him out.

The Payne-trained son of El Roca owns two placings at Coffs Harbour and he handles wet tracks, so the statistics read well.

Getting the inside draw is ideal and we expect his odds to firm on race day.
