Thursday horse racing tips
—
Pakenham
—
Race 1. (17:45) Iron Jack Aust Lagers Maiden (1200m)
#3 – Keppel Bay @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Keppel Bay is looking to cap off consecutive second placings and she looks set to break through.
The three-year-old daughter of Capitalist placed in both attempts over this distance and punters are getting value odds.
Getting cover from the wide draw is her only concern.
Race 2. (18:15) O’Brien Real Estate Maiden (1200m)
#12 – All She Wrote @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Matt Laurie-trained filly had no luck on debut when running sixth, so punters should forgive that effort.
She is a daughter of Tivaci who has been given time to mature and she won a recent jumpout at Mornington in fine style.
We’re not surprised by the early betting support and the money looks well-placed.
Race 4. (19:15) Wise Choice Catering Maiden (1600m)
#9 – Hardly Sweet @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Hardly Sweet is knocking on the door after consecutive placings and she is ready to break maiden grades.
The Greg Eurell-trained three-year-old finished second at Mornington last time out and behind Liberated Girl and we like that form.
The daughter of All Too Hard has upside, so stick with her.
Race 6. (20:15) Sportsbet Take Sec Before Bet C1 (1400m)
#8 – Pounding @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Pounding looked good when winning at Pakenham before heading for a spell and he returned with a handy placing at Yarra Glen.
The Peter Moody-trained three-year-old was only a half-length behind the winner and getting $3 with bookmakers is ideal.

Moruya
—
Race 1. (13:39) Power FM Breakfast Maiden (1010m)
#2 – Stella Siren @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Stella Siren ended her last campaign with a second placing at Moruya and she runs some of best races here.
The four-year-old mare by Shaft is a three-time placegetter from six starts and getting a 1.5kg claimer in the saddle is a bonus.
The $3.40 has firmed into $3.30, which is a solid move.
Race 3. (14:49) Cameron’s Hardware C1 Handicap (1010m)
#1 – Ilzoomya @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ilzoomya has improved with every run and he comes off a maiden win at Bathurst, which is a good form guide.
The son of Denman will need to do some work off a wide barrier draw, but getting 4kg off his back brings him into contention.
His opening odds of $6 firmed into $4.40, so he’s worth following.
Race 4. (15:25) Retreat at Greenwell BM66 (1010m)
#6 – Princess De Roca @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Princess De Roca was good enough to score consecutive wins last campaign and she could get back to her best.
The four-year-old mare won at Sapphire Coast and Moruya, so having winning form on the track is ideal.
Getting the inside draw is ideal and she’s drawn to get all favours.
Race 6. (16:45) Narooma Cup BM74 (1200m)
#5 – Blaazay @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Blaazay has been around the mark throughout his career with three wins and seven placings from 13 starts.
He runs his best races on the track with seven starts for three wins and four placings, so not finishing worse than third is ideal form.
He handles rain-affected tracks with seven starts for three wins and four placings. The statistics speak for themselves, so he goes on top.
