Thursday horse racing tips
Race 1. (17:45) Iron Jack Australian Lager Maiden (2000m)
#10 – Foxy Gal @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Foxy Gal owns three placings from four starts and it’s only a matter of time before she breaks through for the win.
The three-year-old daughter of Foxwedge comes off a third placing at Kilmore and she was under a length from the winner.
Getting the inside draw is ideal.
Race 3. (18:45) Tas Millions Voucher Maiden (1400m)
#5 – Matao Ma @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Matao Ma is knocking on the door after three consecutive second placings and this is his best chance.
He has been facing tough maiden fields at Moonee Valley and Sandown, so dropping to midweek at Pakenham could turn it around.
Barrier 13 works against him but his natural talent should take him close.
Race 5. (19:45) 9mile Fresh BM70 (1200m)
#7 – Yulong Code @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Yulong Code is warming to the task after two runs this preparation and he should be well-placed.
The Peter Moody-trained four-year-old owns three wins from 11 starts and his effort for second at Sandown last start was tidy.
This race is there for the taking and punters get value odds worth taking.
Race 8. (21:15) Sportsbet Bet with Mates BM64 (1600m)
#7 – Spooning @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old mare scored a win at her only attempt at Pakenham, so that’s in her favour.
She comes off a second placing at Moonee Valley behind Pitchanun, which should be a solid form guide for this race.
Drawing barrier two is ideal and the daughter of Ocean Park should get every chance in the run to find a nice spot.
Race 1. (13:15) Win Network C3 Handicap (1000m)
#2 – Casino Lord @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cody Morgan lines up the four-year-old gelding who comes off back-to-back placings at Highway Handicap level.
That form bodes well for this contest and with three wins and four placings from nine starts, we think he’ll be tough to handle here.
Three of his wins came at Tamworth, so the course specialist is the one to beat.
Race 3. (14:25) Country Music Festival Maiden (1400m)
#7 – Geisel @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old colt hasn’t been kind to punters, but we’re not dropping him after posting four placings from five starts.
He is a son of Teofilo who battled gamely for second at Newcastle last start and this isn’t an overly tough maiden field.
$2.60 is worth taking and he should be right in the mix.
Race 5. (15:40) Tab BM66 (1600m)
#1 – Highlights @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Highlights has been around the mark this preparation with two second placings and we like his chances on Thursday.
The four-year-old hit the line strongly when running second at Muswellbrook, so that should be an excellent form guide.
3kg comes off his back and every little bit helps.
Race 6. (16:15) Tamworth Country Music Cup (1200m)
#7 – Anethole @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Anethole got the job done at Randwick last start and punters can’t ignore that form going forward.
The Cody Morgan-trained son of Exceed and Excel owns a win and a placing from two starts at the track, so Tamworth suits him best.
It’s another runner with a 3kg claimer and carrying 52.5kg on his back is ideal.
