There is plenty of value on offer for punters and we have picked out the best races throughout the day on Thursday.
Thursday horse racing tips
Race 2. (13:30) AJM Contracting Maiden (1400m)
#4 – Winning Superstar @ $2.30 – Bet Now
Winning Superstar is coming off a trial placing at Rosehill and that should be good enough form for this race.
The four-year-old gelding has taken plenty of money throughout the week after opening at $2.30 and that is a good sign.
He only needs luck from the wide draw to be right in the thick of the action.
Race 3. (14:00) Polytrack Maiden (1200m)
#12 – Future Force @ $2.40 – Bet Now
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly is closing in on a win after placing at Moe last time out.
She is a filly by Written Tycoon that has shown good barrier speed in two career outings to date, so running at this track is ideal.
Ballarat is a leaders’ track and she should have no problem finding the front off the inside draw.
Race 6. (15:30) Hygain Winners Choice BM70 (1200m)
#2 – Seven Castles @ $2.30 – Bet Now
Seven Castles is the class runner of this field and he could firm into an odds-on quote come start time.
The Lindsay Smith-trained four-year-old ran fifth at Moonee Valley last start after setting a strong tempo. That followed a win on this track, where he is unbeaten from two starts.
We are expecting Seven Castles to remain a perfect three-from-three at Ballarat.
Race 8. (16:30) Hygain Winners Choice C1 Handicap (1100m)
#1 – Elegist @ $3.80 – Bet Now
Elegist carries a big weight but his top-end ability is good and he needed the fresh-up run at Swan Hill was solid.
The Henry Dwyer-trained son of Bel Esprit scored his maiden win at Terang in November and it came by 2.5 lengths. It was a good sign of class and his second career win won’t be far away.
The $3.80 is a fair price in an open field.
Race 2. (13:50) Animalcare Health & Performance C2 (1500m)
#5 – Happy Candy @ $2.65 – Bet Now
Happy Candy produced a good performance to run second at Gosford last start and she won’t be worried about the wet track.
The Mark Newnham-trained three-year-old has had eight starts for a win and three placings, which is a good record to date.
Carrying the light weight is ideal and she measures up against this level of opposition.
Race 3. (14:25) Tyreel Stud BM64 (1800m)
#5 – We Could Be Heroes @ $8 – Bet Now
We Could Be Heroes has the talent to beat fields of this quality and punters are getting good odds for the risk.
The five-year-old is a past winner on this track and he has a good record on rain-affected ground. His form does need to improve a touch but we have confidence.
Carrying a light weight is ideal and the $8 quote could shorten.
Race 4. (15:05) Brad Widdup Racing Maiden (1800m)
#4 – Bianchi Cup @ $5 – Bet Now
Bianchi Cup was well-backed when running seventh last start but we are giving it another chance.
The James Cummings-trained filly has yet to impress from four starts but there is confidence in the market, so she is showing something at home.
Stick with the daughter of Shooting to Win.
Race 5. (15:40) Cavallo Park Stud BM70 (1000m)
#8 – De Grawin @ $3.70 – Bet Now
The Joe Pride-trained runner is seeking her third consecutive win after scoring at Wyong and Nowra.
She scored by 2.5 lengths last time out as the odds-on favourite and punters are getting much better odds this time around.
She is a daughter of Snitzel that has yet to miss a placing from three starts and Tommy Berry is a rider in form.
