Thursday horse racing tips

Grafton

Race 1. (12:15) Fidelity Capital BM66 (1000m)

#4 – Aceplay @ $4 – Bet Now

Aceplay is coming off three consecutive victories and he has every chance of winning again. The Michael Costa-trained gelding rises in grade for this but he should handle it.

He is a son of Casino Prince that scored all three wins over this distance and there is confidence in the betting markets.

$4 is a fair price from bookmakers.

Race 3. (13:25) Tab Mother’s Gift (1400m)

#6 – Simply Sacred @ $3 – Bet Now

Simply Sacred was disqualified last start but she is a quality type that finds form quickly in her campaign.

The Edward O’Rourke-trained mare scored consecutive wins to open her account last preparation and there has been big bets coming her way for this.

She opened at $4.60, so follow the money.

Race 5. (14:40) Corbett Earthmoving Maiden (1200m)

#1 – Yulong Base @ $2.80 – Bet Now

The Cody Morgan-trained gelding is getting close to a win after posting four consecutive placings. He was only a length behind the winner last start where he battled gamely in the straight.

The well-bred son of Scat Daddy won’t take long to get in the winners’ circle and money speaks volumes in this race.

He opened at $3 and has firmed throughout the week.

Race 6. (15:20) Village Green Hotel C6 Plate (1200m)

#2 – Two Big Fari @ $2.50 – Bet Now

Two Big Fari scored three consecutive wins before running fifth in a Highway Handicap. It was a good effort from the four-year-old and he has since won a trial.

The Howlett-trained runner owns five wins from only eight starts and that record must be respected.

Drawing barrier 15 is tough but he owns the class to overcome any bad luck.

Race 7. (15:55) Iron Jack Grafton Cup (2350m)

#4 – Frankely Awesome @ $5.50 – Bet Now

Frankely Awesome was awesome last start when winning the McKell Cup at Rosehill. She owns plenty of class and drawing barrier 16 might put punters off, but it won’t worry her.

She makes her own luck and racing over this distance won’t worry her one bit. She is a daughter of Frankel that was more upside than most in this field.

Take the $5.50 as value odds.

Sale

Race 2. (13:00) Pete’s Mounting Yard Roses Maiden (1423m)

#6 – Kogi Lass @ $3.50 – Bet Now

Kogi Lass has made a consistent start to her career, which includes five starts for two seconds and two thirds.

The Patrick Payne-trained filly was solid at Donald last time out and that should be a good form guide.

She opened at $4.60 and has been firmly met with support since.

Race 3. (13:30) Happy 22nd Birthday Sam Maiden (1623m)

#5 – Samurai Moon @ $2.80 – Bet Now

Danny O’Brien lines up the colt by Savabeel that hit his straps late in the race at Bendigo last start.

The three-year-old will appreciate the rise in distance to the mile and having Damien Oliver in the saddle is ideal.

He is riding well this season and we wouldn’t be surprised to see his odds firm throughout the week.

Race 5. (14:30) Sanlam Private Wealth BM64 (1210m)

#2 – Imperial Lad @ $3.50 – Bet Now

City-class form is with Imperial Lad, who makes his fresh up run here. The John Moloney-trained gelding has finished in the money in eight of his 12 starts, so the consistency is there.

His last two runs have come at Caulfield and Flemington, with a third placing at Flemington being the highlight result.

Tricky from the draw but punters are getting good odds.

Race 8. (16:00) Coffee Pit Car Wash BM70 (1423m)

#1 – Sovereign Award @ $2.10 – Bet Now

Sovereign Award is a three-time winner that returns having finished 11th at Flemington against a stronger field.

The O’Brien-trained four-year-old scored wins at Geelong, Ballarat, and Moonee Valley, with the latter being her best victory to date.

It is another good ride for Oliver and the odds reflect her ability.
