Thursday horse racing tips
Race 2. (13:30) John Wohlers Jewellers Maiden (1170m)
#7 – All She Wrote @ $3.10 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
All She Wrote comes off back-to-back placings, including a solid effort for second at Kilmore last time out.
The three-year-old filly has been well-backed throughout her career and this race is no exception. She opened at $3.40 and has firmed into $3.10, so it’s a solid betting move.
We expect her odds to continue to firm.
Race 3. (14:00) McGregor Machinery Maiden (1300m)
#5 – Poker Scene @ $2.15 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Patrick Payne lines up the three-year-old gelding who comes off a second placing at Wangaratta behind Lunar Solar.
The son of Tivaci will need some luck from the draw but he has time to find cover and he could be the best horse in the race.
Getting $2.15 is ideal and his odds could shorten.
Race 6. (15:30) Insite Real Estate BM64 (1400m)
#7 – Set to Prophet @ $5 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
The three-year-old won fresh up at Pakenham before finishing fifth, so that form is good enough to contend.
The son of Extreme Choice is bred to be quicker than average and we think he can bounce back to winning form on Thursday.
Punters get each-way odds and we fancy his chances.
Race 7. (16:00) Sportsbet Deposit Limit BM64 (1100m)
#13 – Senegalia @ $3.80 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Senegalia was a tremendous maiden winner last time out at Stawell when scoring by 5.3 lengths, so that’s a good sign.
The three-year-old filly paid only $1.55 when winning and punters get a much better quote this time around, so the value is there.
He rises in grade but drops in weight, so that should even it out and she could be a smart filly in the making.
Race 2. (12:45) Mingara Recreation Club Maiden (1350m)
#7 – The Replicant @ $2.45 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
The Replicant ended his first preparation with a placing at Newcastle and he could hit the ground running.
He has been primed with two trials at Warwick Farm and there isn’t much to this field, so he could take advantage.
Early betting signs are good and Hugh Bowman rides.
Race 3. (13:20) Ainsworth Leisure Group Maiden (1100m)
#2 – Pokerjack @ $2.40 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Pokerjack looks to cap off three consecutive second placings, including a close-up finish at Hawkesbury last time out.
The four-year-old gelding deserves a win and getting 3kg off his back could turn the tables in his favour at 56kg.
We expect money to come for him on race day, so take the $2.40 before he firms into $2.
Race 5. (14:35) Star FM Maiden Handicap (1600m)
#1 – The Milkybar Kid @ $2.10 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
The Milkybar Kid ran second at Gosford last start and he has since been primed with a trial win at Randwick.
He looked good when winning by 1.3 lengths and that should top him off nicely for this run, especially being from the Waterhouse/Bott stable.
Tim Clark will likely send him forward and try run them into the ground.
Race 6. (15:10) The Roos Foundation BM64 (1600m)
#5 – Denarau @ $3 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Denarau comes off a win at Wyong by 1.5 lengths and the three-year-old filly could kick on with it.
She is a well-bred daughter of So You Think who has experience winning on the track and punters get value odds at $3.
She could firm on race day and we’re locking in the value.
