Thursday horse racing tips

Wyong

Race 1. (11:55) Ainsworth Gaming Tech Maiden (1600m)

#2 – Tangier @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Tangier is a James Cummings-trained filly that comes off a third placing at Kembla Grange and that form looks good for this contest.

The daughter of Medaglia D’oro should handle the rise in class and she has been confidently backed in betting markets throughout the week.

She gets the inside draw and that could prove the winning of the race.

Race 3. (13:15) The Ary Toukley Maiden (1100m)

#1 – Da Nang Star @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Da Nang Star is on debut for Bjorn Baker and he could make a winning debut. The three-year-old gelding comes off a trial win at Kembla Grange where he scored easily by 3.5 lengths.

He looks to have good speed and after opening at $2.35, his odds have firmed considerably and that’s always a good sign.

Barrier three is ideal and his odds could continue to firm.

Race 6. (15:10) The Entrance Leagues Club C1 (1100m)

#1 – Osamu @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Osamu comes from the red-hot Annabel Neasham stable and he could score his second win from the last three starts.

The three-year-old son of Exceed and Excel broke maiden grades at Newcastle two back and he wasn’t disgraced at Canterbury last start.

Drawing the rails helps and getting a 3kg claim is ideal. He is a consistent type that is worth sticking with.

Race 7. (15:45) Shelly Beach Golf Club BM64 (1350m)

#8 – Budhwar @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Budhwar comes off a second placing at Wyong behind Tim’s Principal and we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely.

The Lane-trained four-year-old is overdue a win and he owns two second placings from two starts at Wyong, so that bodes well.

Barrier two is ideal and punters get fair odds.

Warrnambool

Race 1. (11:05) Roberts One Real Estate Steeplechase (3450m)

#3 – American In Paris @ $1.75 – Bet @ Sportsbet

American In Paris comes off a decisive 10-length win at Hamilton and he shouldn’t have too many problems in this race.

The Symon Wilde-trained son of Americain has taken to jumps racing and although he’s facing a harder field, he had plenty on the field.

$1.75 is short but those odds are worth taking.

Race 2. (11:40) Warrnambool Tyreplus Maiden (2000m)

#3 – Decurio @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Decurio didn’t do much wrong when running second on debut across the Tasman and that form should stack up nicely in Australia.

The Patrick Payne-trained four-year-old looked good in a recent trial and there has been solid betting support, which is a good sign.

$3 is worth taking and it could pay to follow betting moves.

Race 5. (13:40) Midfield Group Maiden Hurdle (3200m)

#7 – Wristband @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Wristband comes off an overdue win at Bairnsdale and flat form should bode well for his maiden hurdle run.

The Eric Musgrove-trained five-year-old has the fitness edge after four runs this campaign and punters haven’t missed him in early markets.

We’re happy to take the $2.90 and his odds should shorten on race day.

Race 6. (14:20) Southwest Equine Vet Hurdle (3200m)

#4 – Home by Midnight @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The former Kiwi has yet to finish worse than third from two starts over the jumps and he’s a class act at his best.

He is an 11-time winner that also owns 20 placings, so the eight-year-old is a professional type that has taken to hurdle racing.

$3.30 is well worth taking against this level of opposition.
