Thursday horse racing tips
Race 1. (17:30) Racing.com Maiden Plate (2200m)
#9 – Foriah @ $2.20 – Bet Now
The Maher/Eustace stables lines up the consistent filly, which has yet to win but never runs a bad race.
She’s a filly by Americain, which should love running over 2200m and she’s going to get conditions to suit.
Drawing barrier two is ideal and a form rider is in the saddle.
Race 2. (18:00) Ontoit Maiden Plate (1400m)
#12 – Chequerboard @ $1.95 – Bet Now
On debut for Lindsay Park is Chequerboard, which has shown good ability at home. The well-bred son of Fastnet Rock has the profile to be winning this race and the betting tells all.
She opened at $2.10 and has firmed into $1.95 throughout the week. It’s a solid push for the favourite and we’re expecting a top effort.
Watch for any late betting moves.
Race 3. (18:30) Setting the Standard Maiden (1100m)
#3 – Midships @ $2 – Bet Now
Midships went close at Werribee last start and he won’t be taking long to breakthrough. The son of Atlante has finished within 1.2 lengths of the winner in all three starts.
He was second on debut at Kilmore and he was a touch unlucky to not win last time out. It bodes well for another good run and he should prove tough to beat.
Race 7. (20:30) De Bortoli Wines BM64 (1600m)
#7 – Persan @ $2.70 – Bet Now
Three-year-old colt Persan scored his maiden win at his 11th start last time out and he could kick on with it.
The son of Pierro won by 1.3 lengths at Bendigo and there has been solid money coming for him throughout the week.
He doesn’t need to beat much in this field and he could justify his favourtism.
Race 8. (21:00) Sportsbet-Money BM70 (1000m)
#4 – Humzz @ $2.65 – Bet Now
Humzz is humming at the moment after posting two wins from his last three starts. The four-year-old won at Cranbourne last start and it bodes well for this race.
He’s a four-time winner and six-time placegetter from only 21 starts, so he has some class about him.
Expect another good effort this Thursday.
Race 1. (12:15) Dg Floating Services Maiden (1800m)
#10 – Send Me Wild @ $2.80 – Bet Now
After starting her career with consecutive fifths, more is expected of Send Me Wild now. The three-year-old filly made good ground at Kembla Grange last start and the rise to 1800m looks ideal.
Her previous run came over 1400m and she clearly needs more distance. She gets that here and a winning turn could be on the cards.
Race 2. (12:50) Legal Maiden (1300m)
#1 – Chewie Two @ $3.90 – Bet Now
Chewie Two was second last start but certainly not disgraced behind Duty at Goulburn. The three-year-old is a big-striding type that could be tough to stop here.
He’s knocking on the door after consecutive second placings and although this is a tough field, he’s got plenty of upside.
Race 4. (14:05) Pony Haircutters Maiden (1500m)
#4 – Trieste @ $2.30 – Bet Now
Brad Widdup lines up the three-year-old filly that looks close to breaking maiden grades. She was under a length behind the winner last start as the odds-on favourite, but she strips fitter now.
Punters are getting solid odds and she’s worth backing in until she breaks her duck.
Race 5. (14:40) Adam Gorrell Automotive C1 (1400m)
#1 – East Asia @ $2.50 – Bet Now
East Asia was a touch unlucky last start and she could bounce back to winning form here.
The Patrick Webster-trained filly was two lengths behind the winner but she never got a fair crack at them.
Her win on debut at Hawkesbury was a much better guide and having winning experience on this track helps.
