Thursday horse racing tips
Race 1. (17:45) Racing.com Maiden (1200m)
#7 – Our Heidi @ $2.25 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Punters should overlook the run of Our Heidi at Flemington last start as this will be much easier.
The Phillp Stokes-trained three-year-old looked good in her previous two starts, including a second placing at Moonee Valley behind Dream Queen.
Her opening odds of $2.45 were taken and more support should come.
Race 2. (18:15) Pak Cup Countdown Maiden (1200m)
#9 – Pagan @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Hayes-trained three-year-old comes off a trial placing at Tatura and he could make a winning debut.
He wasn’t asked for much in the run to the line and the son of Shamexpress has been confidently backed in early markets.
Having Craig Williams in the saddle could offset the wide draw.
Race 5. (19:45) Bunyip Equipment Maiden (1400m)
#9 – Lottacheex @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Lottacheex has progressed nicely and the three-year-old is a good winning chance on Thursday.
The Danny O’Brien-trained daughter of Pins wasn’t far behind the winner at Pakenham last start and that should be an excellent form guide.
Barrier 12 is the only worry, but she has time to find cover.
Race 7. (20:45) Hyland Sportswear BM70 (1200m)
#5 – Sixbysixtythree – $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sixbysixtythree is unbeaten after two starts and we think he will remain unbeaten on Thursday.
The Patrick Payne-trained gelding scored on debut at Echuca by four lengths before winning by just under a length on this track last start.
We expect him to push forward and sit handy, so they’ll do well to chase him down. We’re happy with the $2.40 available as he could shorten into an odds-on quote.
Race 1. (13:50) 1800respect Maiden (1000m)
#7 – Per Ivey @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Money has come for Per Ivey, who comes off a trial win at Rosehill on a heavy surface.
The Matthew Smith-trained three-year-old has been primed with four trials, so she has the miles under her belt.
The progeny of Per Incanto has been running well, so we’re keen.
Race 2. (14:25) Mounties Group (1600m)
#7 – Bedford Square @ $1.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Bedford Square has yet to win from nine career starts, but the four-year-old owns six placings.
The daughter of Tavistock did enough when fourth fresh up at Canterbury when running two lengths behind Field Legend.
Punters will have to take short odds, but she is the best runner in the field.
Race 4. (15:40) Stand Up Against Abuse C1 (1350m)
#2 – Seven Twenty @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Punters get each-way odds for Seven Twenty, who broke maiden grades at Goulburn fresh up.
The three-year-old filly then ran fourth at Newcastle behind some smart types, including Sur La Mer. That form stacks up well at the midweek level.
Getting a 2kg claim helps and we’re happy with the odds available.
Race 6. (16:55) Domestic Abuse Awareness BM64 (1100m)
#9 – Glittery @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet
James Cummings lines up the filly who comes off a win at Gosford. She got the better of Beep Test, which is an ideal form guide.
The daughter of Medaglia D’oro should appreciate the 55.5kg on her back and having Jason Collett in the saddle helps her cause.
$7 is well worth taking and punters should enjoy those odds.
