Thursday horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:20) Darren Flindell BM64 (2000m)
#1 – Zudin @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Chris Waller lines up the four-year-old gelding who is knocking on the door after consecutive placings.
He charged home to miss by a half-length behind Silhouette last start, and that should be an excellent form guide for this contest.
James McDonald rides, so include.
Race 3. (14:35) Anthony Manton Maiden (1000m)
#4 – Russian Standard @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Improving with every run is Russian Standard, who finished third behind Journalism at Hawkesbury last time out.
The three-year-old son of Capitalist has since been prepped with a trial win at Randwick by nine lengths, so we’re surprised he’s not shorter in betting markets.
Barrier two is ideal and we’re happy to have him on our ticket.
Race 5. (15:50) Josh Fleming BM64 (1200m)
#3 – Sweet Ruby @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sweet Ruby showed good ability during her first campaign, which included a win and three placings from five attempts.
The three-year-old filly by Rubick faced tough stakes company at Rosehill last start, so punters should be forgiving of that effort.
She is smart and having Hugh Bowman riding won’t do her chances any harm.
Race 6. (16:25) Kevin Thompson BM64 (1200m)
#3 – Conrad @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Money has been with Conrad throughout the week and we’re not surprised. He comes off a win at Hawkesbury as an odds-on favourite, so more is expected.
The son of Maurice is bred to continue winning and he should handle the rise in class with aplomb on Thursday.
$1.90 is getting short, but it’s a price we’re prepared to take.
Race 2. (14:00) Pontings Mitre 10 Maiden (1700m)
#12 – Power of Song @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Power of Song did well to run fifth on debut at Bendigo, and she should derive plenty of benefit from that effort.
The Symon Wilde-trained three-year-old was 3.2 lengths behind the winner on a heavy surface. She should be looking for improved conditions, which will help.
Barrier one with a light weight brings her right into contention.
Race 4. (15:00) Middy’s Data & Electrical BM70 (3100m)
#4 – Bazini @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old gelding scored a maiden win at Donald two back before battling at his first look over more ground last start.
He was 5.2 lengths behind the winner over 2460m, but rising to 3100m should be fine with that run under his belt.
He’s bred to stay and punters have come for him in early markets.
Race 5. (15:30) Star Printing BM64 (1000m)
#8 – Universal Lady @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Universal Lady couldn’t make it three consecutive wins last start, but she was only 1.8 lengths behind after settling too far back.
The four-year-old looked good winning her two previous starts at Ballarat, and although they came on synthetic surfaces, she will handle Warrnambool.
Barrier two is ideal and punters get odds worth taking.
Race 8. (17:00) Sungold Milk BM64 (1700m)
#10 – Cheerful Moment @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cheerful Moment scored a win three back at Northam before finishing second behind Cuban Link at Flemington.
Cuban Link runs in the Thousand Guineas on Wednesday, so that is a good form guide, and he gets the inside draw to his advantage.
He was storming home last start, so punters should be confident.
