Thursday horse racing tips

Cranbourne

Race 1. (13:30) Vale Tony Logan Maiden (1200m)

#7 – Ain’t She Cute @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Charlotte Littlefield-trained filly hasn’t done much wrong in two career starts and she should be tough to beat.

She is coming off a fourth at Bendigo and prior to that she finished second on debut at Sale. Both runs hold her in good stead and the early money has come her way.

Race 2. (14:00) Tac Be Races Ready Maiden (1600m)

#8 – Newzeel Deal @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Newzeel Deal is knocking on the door of a win after consecutive second placings. The three-year-old colt by Dundeel has coped with heavy tracks this season, so conditions won’t be an issue.

He was only a neck behind the winner at Bendigo last start and his breeding suggests that he’ll only get better with time.

Barrier nine won’t be an issue over the mile so put him on top.

Race 4. (15:00) R&C Asphalt Maiden (2060m)

#13 – Prince Romany @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Strong betting moves are coming for Prince Romany, which would have won last start had he not run out in the straight.

The son of Americain finished second behind Wise Dragon, but he will be better for the run and punters have come for him throughout the week.

The rise in distance is ideal so he goes on top.

Race 6. (16:00) Mercedez-Benz Mornington C1 (1600m)

#2 – Abiding @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The value runner of this field is Abiding, which owns a win and two placings from just six starts.

A four-year-old gelding by Not A Single Doubt, he is coming off a sixth at Bendigo where he didn’t get all favours in the run.

His prior efforts to place were excellent and he shouldn’t be far away.

Race 8. (17:00) De Bortoli Wines C1 Handicap (1300m)

#10 – Toffee Doll @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Toffee Doll is a mare that should have won more than once to date, but she gets another great chance on Thursday.

The four-year-old finished fourth at Pakenham last start and she was hitting the line well enough. That run should hold her in good stead and punters get value odds.

Gosford

Race 1. (14:10) Tooheys Maiden Plate (1600m)

#8 – Kennedy Choice @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The form of Kennedy Choice isn’t overly impressive but this is a weak field and the rise in distance is ideal.

He wasn’t too far away from them at Kembla Grange last start and rising from 1000m to 1600m could make all the difference.

He has been best-backed to win and he should run accordingly.

Race 2. (14:45) Xmas Functions Maiden (1000m)

#7 – Stoltz @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Strong each-way money has come for Stoltz, which ran sixth on debut and has subsequently run well at the trials.

The three-year-old gelding finished second at Warwick Farm to prepare for this race, so we are expecting a tidy effort.

Look for more positive market moves on race day.

Race 4. (15:55) Pirtek Central Coast C1 Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Sir Rocket @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sir Rocket was jet propelled last start when scoring at Gosford and he could go back-to-back on this track.

The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding was able to sit on the pace and kick strongly over a talented field, which bodes well for this run.

The wide draw isn’t a concern in these conditions, so put him on top.

Race 5. (16:35) Industree Group BM64 (1000m)

#4 – Vulpine @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Vulpine had four starts last campaign for two wins and a placing. That form would take her close and she is coming off a trial win at Gosford.

The Brad Widdup-trained daughter of Snitzel has handled wet tracks in the past and conditions look suitable for Thursday’s race.
