Toowoomba Cup Day free tips & form
Race 1. (12:28) Spirit Of Boom Handicap (1100m)
#2 – Gem Of Scotland @ $3.80 – Bet Now
Unbeaten from two starts, Gem Of Scotland looks a good chance to extend her winning record.
The Rex Lipp-trained filly scored by 1.3 lengths on debut before impressing to win by three lengths last start at Gold Coast.
She does face a more open field here but she’s a two-year-old with ability and drawing barrier four will see her get a good trip in transit.
Race 2. (13:07) AG Rigging BM75 (1300m)
#1 – Crusher @ $2.90 – Bet Now
Ben Currie has his team firing and Crusher is leading the way with six wins and three placings from 10 starts.
The four-year-old mare has won four from five at this track, including a 1.5-length win on this track last start.
Her turn-of-foot is impressive and although lumped with 62kg here, she’s the class runner and the odds are appealing.
Race 3. (13:47) Gemlife BM75 (1300m)
#13 – Want To Bolt @ $4 – Bet Now
Another Ben Currie-trained runner which is absolutely flying. The four-year-old gelding has won his last four starts and his most recent came by 4.5 lengths on this track.
He makes another rise in class for this, which is the negative, but dropping in weight helps and having Jeff Lloyd take over the riding is a good sign.
$4 is worth taking.
Race 4. (14:27) Barrier Reef Pools Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Defence Missile @ $14 – Bet Now
The three-year-old has the ability to cause an upset here at double-figure odds and he can turn around a disappointing run last start.
He’s a four-win gelding which rarely runs a bad race and any moisture on the track is a bonus. He has five starts on either a slow or heavy track for three wins and one placing.
$14 is over the odds and he could give punters a good sight.
Race 5. (15:07) Toowoomba Guineas (1625m)
#11 – Gem Dealer @ $7 – Bet Now
Gem Dealer is dropping back in class somewhat, after taking on Supernova at Rosehill last start. That form could be franked at Randwick on Saturday and it should bode well here.
The filly by Dundeel scored her maiden win at Newcastle and although she hasn’t won since, the ability is there.
Good odds on offer.
Race 6. (15:47) K&R Plumbing Supplies BM80 (1625m)
#12 – Francisca @ $2.80 – Bet Now
She is becoming an expensive proposition for punters but we’re prepared to give her another chance.
The Steven O’Dea-trained mare has been backed and beaten at her last three starts and the money has come again. The four-year-old ran close at Eagle Farm last start and based on that run, we’re going to include her in win selections again.
Carrying 54kg should be enough to see her winning.
Race 7. (16:23) Toowoomba Cup (2000m)
#5 – The Lord Mayor @ $3.80 – Bet Now
Chris Waller lines up the former New Zealand runner, which was primed with a fourth behind Order Again at Eagle Farm last start.
He hasn’t quite been a model of consistency since arriving in Australia but he has faced some nice types and was good enough to score back-to-back wins at Randwick and Rosehill.
That form looks good for this and punters could see his form turnaround here.
Race 8. (17:03) Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood (1200m)
#8 – Mishani Hustler @ $2.90 – Bet Now
Mishani Hustler is another quality runner for Ben Currie, having won three on the bounce coming into this.
The three-year-old colt hasn’t been putting big margins on the opposition but the colt has won seven from his 11 starts and that’s a handy record to date.
Faces a stiff test here but carrying only 54kg makes him a winning hope.
Race 9. (17:40) Toowoomba Plastics Plate C6 (1100m)
#4 – Capital Connection @ $3 – Bet Now
Has looked impressive winning his last two and he could be able to rise through the grades.
The Tony Gollan-trained five-year-old scored by 2.5 lengths two back and scored by a narrow margin last start. He continues to show a good turn-of-foot and he gets into this race nicely off barrier three.
Jeff Lloyd rides and there should be plenty of money coming for him on race day.
