Toowoomba horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:38) Barrier Reef Pools BM72 (1850m)

#4 – Hostage of War – Bet @ Sportsbet

Hostage of War is running for his sixth consecutive placing, but we think he can go one better.

The Brenton Andrew-trained five-year-old is a three-time winner and 11-time placegetter from 28 starts, so he’s mightily consistent.

2kg comes off his back that brings him into contention.

Race 2. (13:13) Toowoomba Plastics C6 Handicap (1625m)

#6 – Deep Sceiva – Bet @ Sportsbet

Robert Heathcote lines up the four-year-old mare who won fresh up at Doomben before running third last time out.

The daughter of Deep Field owns four wins from 13 starts to go along with six placings, so she is always around the mark.

2kg comes off her back and drops her to 52kg, so include.

Race 3. (13:48) Moore Trailers BM70 (1000m)

#4 – Lyrical Gal – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lyrical Gal owns four wins and five placings from 11 starts, so we’re expecting another tidy effort on Saturday.

The Tony Gollan-trained five-year-old has yet to race at Toowoomba, but the long straight will give her time to warm up.

Getting the inside draw only adds to her appeal.

Race 4. (14:23) Toowoomba Truck O’Shea Plate (1000m)

#1 – Mishani Warfare – Bet @ Sportsbet

Mishani Warfare is on debut for Les Ross after showing good form at the trials. He finished second at Deagon before winning at Doomben.

It’s trial form that should stack up nicely, and betting throughout the week will be the best guide for punters.

We’re expecting money to come.

Race 5. (14:58) Magic Millions City Guineas (1625m)

#2 – Whitewater – Bet @ Sportsbet

Whitewater finished second on debut before winning at Gold Coast by a length. It was a smart win, and although beaten last start, he didn’t do much wrong.

The three-year-old son of Headwater was only 2.3 lengths behind Startantes, which is excellent form going ahead.

Ryan Maloney rides and that adds to his appeal.

Race 6. (15:37) K&R Plumbing Supplies BM80 (1300m)

#4 – Rock Amore @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Rock Amore already owns two wins this preparation and he looks good enough to add another.

The Gollan-trained five-year-old is a four-time winner and he runs on all surfaces, so track conditions won’t be an issue.

The breeding is there and getting a 2kg claimer helps.

Race 7. (16:17) Tab Toowoomba Cup (2000m)

#4 – Champagne Aunty – Bet @ Sportsbet

The five-year-old mare is a six-time winner from 16 starts, which is a record that can’t be overlooked.

She owns two wins on this track and that experience is vital. Her most recent effort at Gold Coast was too bad to be true, but the betting confidence is appealing.

54kg and Larry Cassidy in the saddle is ideal.

Race 8. (17:00) Audi Centre Weetwood Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Saxagon @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Saxagon needed the fresh up run and the six-year-old should be ready to fire with the run under his belt.

The son of Rocker was only 2.4 lengths behind the winner last start, and he won his only start at Toowoomba. He is also a three-time winner over 1200m, so there’s a lot to like.

$5.50 is a value price.

Race 9. (17:40) Eureka Stud BM75 (1200m)

#11 – Ingear @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ingear got the job done nicely at Eagle Farm last start and she had to dig deep for victory.

The Gollan-trained mare is a professional four-time winner who owns three wins at the distance and four wins on a good track.

We’re not surprised by the odds, but she will need barrier speed from out wide.
