Townsville horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (14:37) Tab Long May We Play Maiden (1000m)

#1 – Gossiping Girl – Bet @ Sportsbet

The two-year-old comes off a solid effort for fourth on debut, and punters should expect improvement from that run.

She is a daughter of Spill The Beans and the breeding suggests that she won’t take long to get off the mark.

Betting will be a good guide for punters.

Race 2. (15:12) Golden Roast Townsville C2 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Galaxy Ghost – Bet @ Sportsbet

The five-year-old comes off a handy performance at Townsville, where he was only a nose behind the winner.

He is a two-time winner that has yet to fire over the 1200m distance. However, this isn’t a strong field and he could take advantage.

Drawing barrier five should see him get a good position throughout the race.

Race 3. (15:47) Sky Racing BM58 (1609m)

#1 – Cleo’s Poet – Bet @ Sportsbet

Looking for consecutive wins is Cleo’s Poet, which scored by a short margin at Townsville last time out.

The six-year-old gelding has more experience than most in this field, with five wins and 17 placings from 50 attempts.

He likes to lead throughout and that should make him tough to beat.

Race 4. (16:22) Mike Mills Photography C3 Handicap (1400m)

#6 – Ephesian – Bet @ Sportsbet

The six-year-old son of Fastnet Rock hasn’t been too far away this season, and a win could be on the cards.

He is a two-time winner at this distance and one-time winner on the track, which bodes well for this race on Wednesday.

It’s not the strongest field he has ever faced, so he could take advantage and score his fourth career win.

Race 5. (16:57) Carlton & United Breweries Maiden (1200m)

#3 – Delago’s Girl – Bet @ Sportsbet

Delago’s Girl is nearing a win after two impressive starts to date. The three-year-old filly finished fourth on debut at Townsville before placing at Cairns last start.

She is a daughter of Sidestep that won’t take long to win a race, and this looks like an ideal target for her.

Ryan Wiggins rides and after drawing barrier four, she should be tough to hold out.

Race 6. (17:32) Tab Make A Date With Play Handicap (1400m)

#1 – Langhro – Bet @ Sportsbet

Langhro is a professional winner of seven from 27 starts, and although yet to win at Townsville, the track should suit.

The eight-year-old scored a win at Cairns two back by 3.5 lengths, and followed it up with a fifth at Townsville last time out.

Carrying 63.5kg won’t make it easy, but he demands respect against a field of this quality.

Race 7. (18:08) Paynters C6 Handicap (1000m)

#1 – Revenire – Bet @ Sportsbet

Revenire is an extremely consistent type that owns six wins from 42 starts, but he also has 16 placings.

The son of Lonhro loves running at Townsville, and he has yet to finish worse than third from five attempts.

There is plenty to like about his form, and despite carrying 62kg, he should be tough to beat on Wednesday.

Race 8. (18:44) Brown Brothers R55 (1000m)

#2 – Our Boy Brett – Bet @ Sportsbet

Our Boy Brett turned around a poor showing on debut to score by a nose. The four-year-old relished the wet track, and he could go back-to-back.

The son of Dreamscape rises in grade for this, but he looks capable of rising through the grades. Betting will indicate whether he can rise through the grades, but expect each-way odds.
