Tuesday horse racing tips

Ballarat

Race 1. (12:30) Eureka Concrete Maiden (1100m)

#3 – Pal’s Reward @ $2.05 – Bet Now

Pal’s Reward is looking to improve on three consecutive placings to start his career. The Newton-trained gelding finished a half-length behind the winner last start and that will be a good form guide.

The son of Reward for Effort should get a good run from barrier two and having an apprentice takes weight off his back.

Race 3. (13:30) Cardnotgm Maiden (1400m)

#4 – Modulo @ $2.50 – Bet Now

Modulo is due a winning turn and facing an easier field will help his cause. The Clinton McDonald-trained four-year-old ran close fresh up and although beaten since, that form bodes well.

He made good ground late at Bendigo last time out and securing the inside draw could be enough to see him winning.

$2.50 is short but this deep doesn’t run deep.

Race 5. (14:30) A1 Signage Maiden (1500m)

#8 – Miss Tenthousand @ $1.90 – Bet Now

Money is coming for Miss Tenthousand and that is not surprising. The Maher/Eustace-trained filly has finished second in all three career starts, including one at Ballarat two back.

The daughter of Spirit of Boom typically settles off the pace and comes with a late run. However, we could see her be ridden more forward this time around.

Expect her odds to be shorter on race day.

Race 8. (16:00) Sportsbet-Elite Games BM58 (1400m)

#2 – Kamo @ $5.50 – Bet Now

The four-year-old gelding owns a win and three placings from seven starts. His win came last time out at Pakenham and it was on a synthetic surface.

He gets similar conditions here and given the win came by 1.8 lengths, he showed some class. Doubling down on that effort won’t be easy but he only needs luck from the wide draw.

$5.50 is worth taking against an even field.

Newcastle

Race 1. (12:50) Avid Project Management Maiden (1300m)

#1 – Kingsheir @ $2.60 – Bet Now

Strong money has come for Kingsheir on debut and the son of Kingman could make a winning start.

Trained by Team Hawkes, he enters this race having had three trials for only one placing. However, he opened at $3.90 and the money came thick and fast, so that is worth noting.

It could pay to follow betting moves on race day as well.

Race 2. (13:25) Next Payments Maiden (900m)

#4 – War Memorial @ $4 – Bet Now

War Memorial hasn’t shown too much on race day but he scored a trial win in preparation. The two-year-old son of Fastnet Rock scored by 1.8 lengths at Randwick, so he should go well here.

He showed good barrier speed when running seventh at Gosford last start. A repeat of that barrier pace should see him fighting out the finish.

Race 4. (14:40) Jennings Print Group Maiden (1600m)

#8 – Underboss @ $2 – Bet Now

Kim Waugh lines up the three-year-old gelding that is coming off back-to-back placings. He sat on the speed last start and battled gamely in the straight, so that was a good sign.

The son of Animal Kingdom is only going to improve with more distance and with Tommy Berry in the saddle, punters should expect a solid effort.

Race 5. (15:20) Coastline Pools C2 Handicap (900m)

#1 – Shadow Bridge @ $4.20 – Bet Now

Shadow Bridge is dropping in class and that could see a turnaround in form. The Mark Newnham-trained four-year-old is a two-time winner, so he has plenty of ability.

His recent form has been mixed, with a second placing at Wyong two starts back being his best recent result.

Punters are getting each-way odds and they are worth taking.
