Tuesday horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:45) SPB Scone Maiden Handicap (1400m)
#4 – Galaxy Belle @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Galaxy Belle comes off a second placing at Port Macquarie and it won’t take her long to break her maiden status.
Trained by Kris Lees, the three-year-old filly has taken her time to find her best form, but after two placings from her last three starts, she looks ready.
She will get a nice drag behind the speed and should let down nicely in the straight.
Race 3. (14:05) Artist Sarah Bishop Maiden (1100m)
#7 – Lady River @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Lady River comes off back-to-back third placings and there isn’t much wrong with that form.
The Scott Singleton-trained three-year-old finished third at Muswellbrook in February before heading out for a spell.
She returned with a trial win at Scone and that holds the daughter of Headwater in good stead against this level of opposition.
Race 5. (15:20) Ariat C1 Handicap (1100m)
#1 – Dominant Lady @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Dominant Lady scored a fresh up win last preparation and she could double down on that effort.
The three-year-old filly was too slick for them before running fourth at Scone, which came on an unsuitable heavy surface.
The daughter of I Am Invincible is much better suited on a good surface and punters should enjoy the $4.50 available.
Race 7. (16:35) Scone Equine Hospital BM58 (1200m)
#5 – Chaready @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Cameron Crockett-trained three-year-old comes off a win at Scone and he could score another victory.
He won by a length to break maiden grades and it capped off a second placing at Muswellbrook, so he has been in good form this season.
His opening odds of $5 have been taken and he could continue to firm throughout the week.
Race 2. (12:20) Finchetts Maiden Hurdle (3200m)
#6 – Holburt @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old was beaten by seven lengths over the hurdles last start, but he has the ability to turn that around.
He is a son of Tavistock that placed at his only attempt at Hamilton and he only put in one bad jump at Casterton, which cost him the race.
Stick with Holburt and expect his odds to firm.
Race 5. (14:20) Eulong Cavendish Steeplechase (3450m)
#8 – American in Paris @ $1.65 – Bet @ Sportsbet
American in Paris is the short-priced favourite and he should be tough to beat in the feature Steeplechase.
The five-year-old didn’t have much luck at Warrnambool when needing to go around a fallen runner, so he should have finished closer.
He opened at $1.90 and has been smashed with bookmakers, so that is a good sign.
Race 7. (15:30) Fishers IGA BM58 (1400m)
#4 – Cabinho @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cabinho has more upside than most in this field and we wouldn’t turn down the $4 available with bookmakers.
The four-year-old has figured in the finish in five of his nine career starts and two of them have come at this distance.
Barrier 15 is a concern, but he is worth following and we’re expecting a top effort.
Race 8. (16:00) Hygain BM64 (1200m)
#9 – Ginny Ann @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ginny Ann comes off a win at Warracknabeal and it came by 4.8 lengths, so she’s good enough to kick on with it.
She has yet to fire on a heavy track, but she handles the wet. Her best form comes on soft tracks, so conditions should suit on Tuesday.
We thought she would be shorter in the betting, so take the $3.20 before it shortens.
