Tuesday horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:35) E-cycle Solutions Maiden Hurdle (3200m)
#7 – Longclaw @ $2.25 – Bet Now
Longclaw is having his hurdle debut after finishing in the money in nine of his 20 starts. It’s a solid record but he’s now ready to show off his talent of the jumps.
The son of Fastnet Rock finished second on this track earlier this season and although punters are taking a risk over the hurdles, he should have too much flat speed.
Watch for any late betting moves.
Race 2. (12:15) E-Cycle Solutions Hurdle (3200m)
#4 – Scholarly @ $1.65 – Bet Now
Scholarly is backing up a week after winning at Warrnambool last week. The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding was miles too good for his opposition, winning by 11 lengths untouched.
He’s a star hurdler in the making and although facing a better field here, he should have too much class for this field.
$1.65 is short but he could start even shorter on race day.
Race 4. (13:55) Schellivans Maiden (1112m)
#7 – Seguso @ $3.40 – Bet Now
Graeme Begg lines up the debutante, which has the breeding to make an impact. He’s a two-year-old colt by Redoute’s Choice x. Shamal Wind, so he’s bred to be good.
After opening at a ridiculous price of $10, he has been hammered in betting down to $3.40. Those odds could continue to firm and we could get into around $2 come start time.
It could pay to watch the market throughout the day.
Race 6. (15:00) Simmonds Constructions C1 Handicap (1212m)
#10 – Bless Her @ $3.40 – Bet Now
Bless Her is coming off an impressive four-length on this track and she could repeat the dose. The Shea Eden-trained filly sat just behind the leader and pounced nicely late.
It could be a sign of things to come and she has been well-backed to win. She opened at $3.90 and money has steadily come for her.
We’re expecting another tidy effort.
Race 8. (16:00) Greenwattle Racecourse BM64 (1627m)
#11 – Melarita @ $2.75 – Bet Now
The Maher/Eustace-trained mare is coming off a big victory at Mornington and she could go back-to-back.
She won by 4.3 lengths over Art Major, which has since gone another good race on Saturday. The form stacks up nicely and the former Kiwi could continue the great run for ex-Kiwi horses winning in Victoria this season.
Race 1. (12:05) Oxley Thoroughbreds Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Irish Thunder @ $1.70 – Bet Now
Punters aren’t getting huge odds for Irish Thunder, but based on his debut win, he should be winning this race.
The two-year-old won by 1.3 lengths in a professional manner and we’re not surprised he opened as the odds-on favourite.
He draws barrier two and that should him settle close again.
Race 3. (13:20) Kennards Hire Taree Maiden (1250m)
#3 – Dr Copper @ $2.60 – Bet Now
Dr Copper showed little on debut but his run for second last start was impressive. He flashed home late to finish second behind Irish Thunder and that form could stack up well.
The son of Sizzling appears to be getting better with time and we’re expecting jockey Amelia Denby to pull him to the outside around the home turn. From there he should be able to balance up and come strongly.
Race 6. (15:15) Iron Jack BM58 (1600m)
#5 – Roy’s Command @ $3.40 – Bet Now
The five-year-old is knocking on the door of posting his fifth career win after running second at Taree last start.
He steadily worked home and only missed by a nose. It’s an encouraging performance going forward and suggests he could get back to his best form.
Punters are getting a fair price this time around.
Race 8. (16:25) XXX Gold BM66 (1400m)
#9 – Mummentum @ $3.40 – Bet Now
Kris Lees lines up Mummentum, which has placed at her last two starts. The mare by O’Reilly went close at Ipswich last start and she has won this preparation.
She’s a three-time winner from only nine starts and that’s a good enough record to win at this level.
$3.40 is a fair price from bookmakers.
