Tuesday horse racing tips

Gosford

Race 1. (13:00) Christmas @ Teg Maiden (1100m)

#5 – Foolish @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Foolish finished third on debut at Newcastle and the Kim Waugh-trained gelding looks set to break through.

The son of Nicconi finished 3.4 lengths behind the winner as a $1.95 chance, but he will only improve with the run under his belt.

Most of the money has come for him, so expect the $3.20 to shorten.

Race 2. (13:40) Taperell Rutledge Maiden (1100m)

#12 – Ultra @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

James Cummings lines up the three-year-old filly who could do with a confidence boost on Tuesday.

The daughter of Not a Single Doubt wasn’t far behind some smart types at Hawkesbury last start, and she showed good ability last season.

This is an easier field and she could score an overdue maiden win.

Race 5. (15:35) Tanti Financial Services BM64 (1900m)

#1 – Freedom Square @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Freedom Square scored an impressive win two back as an odds-on favourite before running second behind Kitzbuhel at Randwick.

The Paul Messara-trained four-year-old has more talent than most in this field, and that is reflected in betting markets.

3kg comes off his back and that is vital to his success.

Race 7. (16:50) Eve Security Services BM64 (1200m)

#5 – Bitcoin Baby @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Bitcoin Baby made a good impression when winning on debut and anything close to that will be good enough.

The three-year-old filly by Sooboog won by a nose at Newcastle before running fifth at Randwick. However, that run came behind the likes of Verne and In the Congo, who has since won at the top level.

Her recent trials have been solid and she is clearly the one to beat.

Hamilton

Race 3. (14:30) Hamilton Flooring Xtra Maiden (1409m)

#6 – Guaranteed @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Guaranteed has been around the mark without winning, but he gets an ideal chance to break through on Tuesday.

The three-year-old son of Akeed Mofeed finished second at Sale before placing at Echuca. That form is solid, and despite running fourth at Mornington last start, he was only 2.5 lengths behind them.

It’s an even betting field, but the early value is with Guaranteed.

Race 4. (15:00) Walkers Earthworks Maiden (1209m)

#10 – Deep’n Meaningful @ $2.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Deep’n Meaningful will need to do work off an outside barrier, but we impressed with her debut effort at Horsham.

The McEvoy-trained daughter of Deep Field finished two lengths behind Video, and we expect that form to stack up nicely.

Getting an apprentice claim helps, so she should be tough to hold out.

Race 5. (15:30) Pet Food Shop Hamilton BM58 (1209m)

#1 – Yarra Boy @ $1.85 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Yarra Boy scored a win on debut at Ballarat before running well enough in two subsequent runs at Bendigo and Warrnambool.

The four-year-old was only 1.9 lengths behind the winner second-up before rising in class and finishing fifth in a field of 15 last start.

Carrying 64kg won’t be easy, but it’s all relative to the quality of this field. He should do punters proud.

Race 6. (16:00) Comfort Inn Botanical BM58 (1109m)

#5 – Desired @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Desired owns a win and a placing from four starts, including a third placing at Horsham last time out.

The three-year-old filly had plenty of backing on that occasion and it’s a similar situation. She is holding steady as the even-money favourite, which is a fair price.

Barrier five should give her a premium run in transit, so expect a big effort.
