Race 1. (13:30) Long Lunch Grandview Maiden (1000m)
#1 – Oaky Doaks @ $6.00
Oaky Doaks didn’t fire in two runs at Canberra last preparation, but with a spell under his belt, he could come back much stronger.
The three-year-old gelding by Denman opened at $7 before firming into $6, which is an excellent sign for punters.
He gets the inside draw and that could be the difference.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (14:05) Welcome MTC Club Sponsors Maiden (1600m)
#11 – Darn Hot Miss @ $4.00
Darn Hot Miss hit the line nicely to run fourth at Kyneton last time out, which is a tidy enough form guide for this race.
The three-year-old filly by Too Darn Hot has yet to place from five career starts, but that’s likely to change on Monday.
She is good enough to put this field away and punters get value odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 3. (14:40) Riverina Livestock Agents Maiden (1200m)
#9 – Son of Eureka @ $2.70
Son of Eureka finished fourth at Goulburn on debut in May before going to the paddock, and he could return much stronger.
The son of Nicconi is bred to win early in his career and it’s good to see solid betting support for the current favourite.
He opened at $3.40 before shortening, so include him in picks.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 4. (15:15) Country Champs at Wagga BM58 (1400m)
#1 – Lethal Lady @ $4.50
Consistency is with Lethal Lady, who keeps finishing just behind the winners, but that could all change in this race.
The five-year-old mare owns four wins and seven placings overall, and she wasn’t far away last start when fourth.
2kg comes off her back and she doesn’t mind the sting out of the ground.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (15:50) Thank You Kooringal Rotary C1 (1300m)
#2 – Light Infantry @ $4.80
Looking to cap off three consecutive second placings is Light Infantry, who owns a win and four placings from only seven starts.
He doesn’t know how to run a bad race and he was only a nose behind the winner at Bathurst, which is an ideal form guide.
We expected shorter odds, so take the each-way value.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 6. (16:30) Cyril Plays the Party BM58 (1600m)
#5 – Soul Taker @ $4.20
Looking to post three consecutive wins is Soul Taker, who scored at Wagga before doubling down with a win at Pakenham.
The four-year-old daughter of Dissident won narrowly at Wagga, and having winning experience on the track is ideal.
She’s also a three-time winner over the mile, so the stats read well.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 7. (17:10) Worksforyou Championship Preview C4 (1200m)
#7 – Cambar @ $2.40
Cambar suffered his first defeat when running fifth at Randwick behind Sir Remlap, and that form could be franked on Monday.
The three-year-old colt by Pierata looked good when winning at Wagga and Rosehill to start his career, and we’re backing him to stay unbeaten at the track.
Take the $2.40 odds before strong money comes for him late.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 8. (17:50) Lime Leaf Catering BM58 (1000m)
#7 – Miss Mikki Isle @ $1.70
Miss Mikki Isle is worth including in multis at the short odds, and she’s good enough to put this field away.
She won at Wagga last preparation by four lengths to break maidens before placing at Wagga and going down by just a nose last start.
Barrier 12 makes it tricky but she should jump and run.
Stake: 3.5 Units
