We’re in the middle of the famous Warrnambool Carnival and Wednesday’s racing includes the Wangoom Handicap.
There’s a huge 10-race card to bet on and we have free expert tips, form and odds.
Warrnambool free tips & form
Race 1. (11:20) W’Bool Greyhound R.C Maiden (1700m)
#3 – Scarface Romeo @ $2.60 – Bet Now
Team Maher/Eustace lines up the four-year-old gelding which showed some ability in three starts last campaign.
There’s not much form in this field and with one placing from three starts, he could be the best of the lot.
John Allen rides and he’s a good, strong rider to have in the saddle.
Race 2. (11:50) Bottle-O Warrnambool Maiden (1700m)
#2 – El Vincitore @ $3.20 – Bet Now
The three-year-old improved nicely for second last time out at Geelong having run sixth on debut at Pakenham.
He’s a nicely-bred type which is going to get every chance from the inside barrier and this isn’t the strongest maiden field you’ll ever see.
The rise in distance suits and we’re expecting a top effort.
Race 3. (12:20) Warrnambool Locksmiths Maiden (1400m)
#7 – Harbour Views @ $2.50 – Bet Now
Betting tells punters all they need to know with this runner. He’s a four-year-old on debut, having had no trials and he’s the clear favourite.
That’s a good sign for the son of Le Havre and he certainly adds some interest to this maiden field.
Watch for further betting moves but we’re expecting more money to come on race day.
Race 4. (12:55) Decron Dunroe Steeplechase BM120 (3450m)
#5 – Ascot Red @ $3.60 – Bet Now
Another Maher/Eustace-trained runner that is only relatively new to the jumping ranks but has already shown ability.
He finished second at Pakenham by just over a length and he has since been primed with a trial placing on this track.
His form on the flat should see him go close here and given that he was good enough to win consecutive races last preparation, he’s more than capable of pulling this off.
Race 5. (13:30) W’Bool City Volkswagen BM70 (1400m)
#1 – The Closer @ $2.05 – Bet Now
The Closer is another Maher/Eustace-trained runner which has been well-backed to win. She’s a two-win filly that was beaten at Moonee Valley last start but this is a big drop in class.
She’s a filly which scored a win at Ballarat by 2.8 lengths and she then ran twice at Flemington. Those runs came against strong group opposition and she’s going to enjoy running in this grade.
Bookmakers have her short in the betting and we’re not surprised.
Race 6. (14:05) Sovereign Resort Hurdle (3200m)
#7 – Big Blue @ $4.20 – Bet Now
Beaten at his hurdle debut at Pakenham last start but he was only narrowly beaten and conditions suit better here.
The imported son of Galileo showed his staying ability when winning over 2600m at Randwick last year and anything close to that form sees him winning this.
Not an easy field to beat and it’s a quality race, but he’s at value odds.
Race 7. (14:45) Choices Flooring BM70 (1000m)
#4 – Parsifal @ $2.70 – Bet Now
Will Clarken lines up the four-year-old gelding which was too good for them at Morphettville last time out.
The one-length win was a good hit-out for this and he has shown good ability to date. He has had nine starts for three wins and two placings.
That’s a solid record at this stage of his career and with Jamie Kah in the saddle, we’re expecting another tidy effort.
Race 8. (15:20) Midfield Group Wangoom Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Inn Keeper @ $3 – Bet Now
Simon Wilde lines up a more than capable type here with Inn Keeper. The five-year-old is a winner at his only start at Warrnamnool and he has always looked above average at this level.
He was good enough to put four consecutive wins together last campaign and with those coming on rain-affected tracks, he’s getting ideal conditions here.
He gets into this race well off on the weights and we’re expecting a big effort.
Race 9. (16:00) Sinclair Wilson BM64 (1700m)
#5 – Hostar @ $6.50 – Bet Now
One of the best-backed runners in this field after opening at $9.50 earlier in the week.
The four-year-old son of Host is coming off a fifth-place finish at Morphettville and his form this campaign has been good without being extraordinary.
He’s going to enjoy dropping in grade to BM64 and the last time he raced in this grade he finished only 1.8 lengths behind the winner.
Nice chance here at the odds.
Race 10. (16:30) Silvan Ridge BM70 (1400m)
#9 – Connery @ $4.80 – Bet Now
Archie Alexander lines up the talented four-year-old that has had two runs this campaign and improved nicely last time out.
His last-start second placing at Seymour is going to hold him in good stead for this and given his record of two wins and five placings from 11 starts, he should be right in the mix.
