Warrnambool Racing Tips for Thursday, May 7th 2026

We have expert betting tips for racing at Warrnambool on Thursday, which includes 10 races at the quality meeting.

Punters get good value odds for the Victorian meeting, and we have betting tips for every race on the card.

Race 1. (11:15) John Rule Champion Novice Hurdle (3200m)

#1 – Golden Crusader @ $2.35

Golden Crusader looked good when winning at Terang last start, and he’s unbeaten from two starts over jumps.

The eight-year-old son of Golden Horn has more flat speed than most runners in this field, and we expect his odds to be around $2.

Take the current price before it shortens on race day.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 2. (11:45) The Standard Maiden (1200m)

#4 – Melbourne Magic @ $1.95

Money is with Melbourne Magic, who showed speed with three placings last preparation.

The Symon Wilde-trained gelding placed at Ballarat on debut before placing at Sandown behind some decent types, so the form checks out.

It’s another favourite to start the meeting, but he should give punters a sight.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (12:15) Tab BM70 (1400m)

#6 – Victory Tune @ $16.00

Punters get value odds with Victory Tune, who scored earlier this preparation at Pakenham before adding a placing last time out.

The three-year-old son of Too Darn Hot is never too far away from the prize, and there isn’t much covering this field.

Given the odds, he’s worth including in Warrnambool picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (12:45) Catanach’s Jewellers BM70 (1400m)

#6 – Beautifully @ $4.20

Beautifully has come of age this preparation with wins at Terang and Cranbourne, so she’s worth sticking with.

The three-year-old daughter of Hello Youmzain won by 1.5 lengths at Cranbourne against a tidy field, and that form should hold up well.

2kg comes off her back to help with the weight, which is a bonus.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (13:15) Grand Events Neville Wilson BM70 (1700m)

#8 – Elenor Dumont @ $3.50

Looking for three consecutive wins is Elenor Dumont, who scored her last two at Terang in impressive fashion.

The four-year-old mare by Ace High is bred to enjoy these distances, and she looks like a nice winter type in the making.

She opened at $4.40, so there has been good money for her.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 6. (13:50) Evergreen Turf BM78 (1100m)

#2 – Moby Dick @ $4.80

Moby Dick is much better than what his form suggests, and we’re giving him another chance with the drop in class.

The five-year-old gelding has changed stables to Gavin Bedggood, and after running behind some good types in town this season, this is an easier race.

On talent alone, he should be right in the mix at each-way odds.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (14:30) Brandt Grand Annual Steeplechase (5500m)

#2 – Duke of Bedford @ $2.70

Duke of Bedford has prepared beautifully for the Grand Annual after being competitive in flat races this campaign.

The seven-year-old owns six wins and five placings over the jumps circuit, and with two wins at Warrnambool, he likes the track.

He didn’t run on Day 1, so he should be fresh and ready to fire in the big event.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 8. (15:15) Kia Handicap (1400m)

#2 – El Rocko @ $8.50

El Rocko is seeking his 10th career win, and the conditions look ideal. He owns three wins from six starts on a heavy track, and he’s a true wet tracker with 27 starts on good surfaces for no wins.

The seven-year-old son of Fastnet Rock has yet to run at Warrnambool, but his recent racing has come at Caulfield, so he will find this easier.

Look for him to settle handy and kick strongly.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 9. (15:55) Sungold Milk Warrnambool Cup (2350m)

#3 – Pounding @ $4.40

Pounding is getting close to scoring an overdue win after posting placings at Bairnsdale and Mornington this preparation.

The seven-year-old has taken on good fields throughout his career, so he won’t find the opposition too tough to beat.

His lack of winning form is concerning, but it’s only a matter of time.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 10. (16:30) Mac's Hotel After the Last BM62 (1300m)

#11 – Big Rooster @ $7.00

Big Rooster had punters clucking for joy when scoring at Terang last start and form out of that meeting has stacked up well during the Warrnambool carnival.

The four-year-old son of Shalaa won paying $2.45, so punters get much better odds this time around, and he can handle the rise in class.

This stable is going well, so include at value odds.

Stake: 1 Unit
