It’s a compact meeting this week in Sydney and we have our best value bets available.
Warwick Farm horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (14:20) XXXX Maiden Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Boomsong @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Mark Newnham-trained three-year-old has looked good at the trials and that form should stack up on race day.
The son of Your Song finished fourth at Randwick before producing back-to-back trial wins at Warwick Farm.
$4.40 is a good price and it could shorten on race day.
Race 2. (14:55) Drinkwise Maiden Plate (1200m)
#5 – Pizarro @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Pizarro was well-backed on debut when running second at Hawkesbury and he could go one better.
The three-year-old son of All Too Hard had shown promise at the trials with two wins and a placing, so the talent is there.
Barrier 11 isn’t ideal but having James McDonald in the saddle helps.
Race 3. (15:30) Ranvet BM64 (2130m)
#1 – Oceanic Flash @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Oceanic Flash is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring at Newcastle and Wyong in fine style.
The son of Sacred Falls got the better of Tea Leaves last start, so there’s no reason why he couldn’t win again.
2kg comes off his back and punters get each-way odds to enjoy. His turn of foot could be the difference and we’re expecting money to come for him on race day.
Race 4. (16:05) Justify Yearlings BM64 (1600m)
#5 – This’llbetheone @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
We expect the John O’Shea-trained gelding to remain unbeaten. The son of Exceed and Excel scored at Kembla Grange and Hawkesbury, and he looks to have a bright future.
He got the better of Banana Queen on debut, which has since won. He then defeated Salsonic as a $1.70 favourite last time out.
The form checks out, and despite drawing wide in barrier 10, he has time to find cover with McDonald in the saddle.
Race 5. (16:40) Harry Angel @ Darley BM64 (1100m)
#1 – Russbuss @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Russbuss might have needed two runs back from a spell to find his groove, so we expect a better run now.
The Bjorn Baker-trained four-year-old wasn’t too far behind them last start and he won his only third-up attempt last season, which bodes well.
Barrier two and getting a 3kg claimer to ride could make the difference, so take the each-way odds available.
Race 6. (17:15) Vinery BM64 (1100m)
#5 – Rule of Law @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Rule of Law faced some tough opposition last campaign so we’re prepared to overlook his recent form.
The Baker-trained four-year-old finished second behind Rocketing By at Randwick before running behind some smart types, so he will find this much easier.
The well-bred son of Snitzel has been primed with a five-length trial win at Warwick Farm, so he looks ready to fire.
Race 7. (17:50) Tab BM64 (1300m)
#14 – Comrade Rosa @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old filly got too far back at Rosehill last start, so we’re giving her another chance against an easier field.
She finished off stoutly behind Shihonka, and we expect that form to stack up nicely at the midweek level.
It’s another premium ride for James McDonald and the early betting support has come for the favourite.
