Werribee racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:25) Roderick Insurance Brokers BM64 (2720m)
#4 – Legatus @ $2.70
Legatus was too good for them at Moe last time out and we’re backing him to win again.
The six-year-old son of Preferment is a five-time winner overall and that form is tough to overlook at this level.
We’re happy to stick with the in-form runner.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (14:00) Dylanwightmp Maiden (1000m)
#11 – Secretdream @ $5.00
Secretdream wasn’t far away on debut when running second at Kyneton, and she’s good enough to go one better.
The three-year-old filly by Yes Yes Yes finished three lengths behind the winner but we liked that she fought on bravely to hold off the rest of the field.
Getting the inside draw is ideal and the odds are attractive.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (14:35) Wydnham City Council Maiden (1100m)
#10 – Heat Missile @ $1.85
Running at short odds is Heat Missile, who was a short margin behind Regal Secret on debut.
The three-year-old daughter of Too Darn Hot is bred to show early speed, so it shouldn’t take her long to win a race.
The odds are good relative to the quality of this field.
Stake: 4.5 Units
Race 4. (15:10) Tobin Brothers Maiden (1600m)
#7 – Captivate Legend @ $2.20
Captivate Legend is a quality type in the making after running second at Warrnambool last time out.
The three-year-old filly was only a length behind Perfect Excuse, and she’s easily good enough to beat this maiden field.
Rising to the mile should only help her chances of winning.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 5. (15:45) Global Turf Maiden (1400m)
#10 – Waco Kid @ $7.00
Running second at Caulfield should be good form for this race, so we’re taking the $7.00 available.
The three-year-old son of Divine Prophet finished two lengths behind Poetic Storm, and we believe that’s the best form guide for this race.
Take the odds and include him on an each-way basis.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (16:20) Just Energy BM64 (1400m)
#6 – Keep Your Cool @ $3.90
Keep Your Cool is getting close to posting another win after finishing third at Donald last time out.
The four-year-old mare by Deep Field owns two wins and three placings from nine starts, so she has more than enough ability to handle this field.
2kg comes off her back and she is worthy of favouritism.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (16:55) Picklebet Werribee Cup (1600m)
#1 – Nugget @ $5.50
We have been waiting for Nugget to show his best form this season, and we’re prepared to give him one more chance.
The Ciaron Maher-trained eight-year-old keeps finding trouble in the run, but he’s a talented type on his day with more ability than any runner in this field.
This could be his time to strike at each-way odds.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 8. (17:30) Bridge Hotel BM64 (1100m)
#13 – Flip the Switch @ $9.00
Value is with Flip the Switch, who finished second at Dunkeld last time out and that’s worthy of attention.
The five-year-old mare by Thronum is a two-time winner and we don’t think she needs to improve much to beat this field.
She’s a solid each-way bet to end the card.
Stake: 1 Unit
