MLB Betting Tips

Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals @ Nationals Park

The Atlanta Braves are sticking with the Phillies in the National League East and a win over the Nationals could spring them into the top spot.

They are looking to win three games on the bounce after beating the in-form Reds in consecutive games. The most recent was an extra innings 8-6 victory and it kept the momentum going for the 59-55 outfit.

Washington isn’t going so well after dropping four of its last five games. The Nationals are now 9.5 games back in the division and recent form hasn’t helped their cause.

They are 3-10 in 13 games against the Braves and that’s going to be tough to turn around. Washington also has Dodgers’ transfer Josiah Gray on the mound, who has an ERA of 4.00 and has allowed six home runs from only 18 innings pitched.

Countering Gray is Charlie Morton for the Braves. He is a class act at 10-4 and we’re expecting the Braves to be too strong with Morton likely to provide another gem with the ball.

Bookmakers will have Atlanta as favourites and it should continue its march to the division lead.

Cincinnati Reds vs Philadelphia Phillies @ Citizens Bank Park

The Reds were one of the hottest teams in MLB before losing three on the bounce against Cleveland and Atlanta.

It was a significant dip in form for the 61-54 team that is eight games back of Milwaukee and needing to make ground on the first-place team.

Two of the three losses came by either one run or in extra innings, so they haven’t been disastrous, but it has been a disappointing stretch for the quality team.

Leading the way in all major statistical categories is Joey Votto, who is having one of his best seasons. He has hit 25 home runs and 72 RBI, which is an outstanding effort.

The Phillies lead their division at 60-55 and having Zack Wheeler on the mound helps. He is 10-6 with an ERA of 2.43, so he’s a classy pitcher and he could make the difference.

In three previous meetings, the Reds have taken two. The games haven’t been remotely close, with the Reds winning 11-1 and 12-4, and the Phillies winning their game 17-3.

It should be a tight contest, but we’re going with the Phillies to end their two-game losing streak. They lost twice to the Dodgers after being outscored 13-2, so expect a better offensive output on Saturday.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets @ Citi Field

The New York Mets ended a losing streak with a much-needed 8-7 win over Washington and it could post a win over one of the best teams in MLB.

They didn’t look good losing a three-game series to Philadelphia, but the Mets are 35-20 at home, so they are tough to beat at Citi Field.

Los Angeles is the better team at 69-46 after scoring four consecutive wins following a loss to the Angels. The Dodgers scored 26 runs in the four victories, so the offence is firing and having Julio Urias on the mound is a bonus.

Urias is 13-3 and he is one of the most consistent pitchers in the league. His experience edge over Tylor Megill is significant and that’s where the Dodgers have the advantage.

We respect how well the Mets play at home, but the Dodgers are the favourites and we’re not surprised. Despite Mookie Betts being placed on the injured list, they have a strong team and we’re confident they can continue their momentum and make ground on the San Francisco Giants in the National League West.
