MLB Betting Tips

Minnesota Twins vs New York Yankees @ Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees have hit form at the right time after winning their last five games. They scored back-to-back wins over Boston, which put them equal with the Red Sox in the American League East.

The Yankees must now get past the Minnesota Twins, who are struggling at 53-67. They were able to score three consecutive wins before losing to Cleveland 3-1, but it has been tough times for the most part.

Jorge Polanco is the only shining light for the Twins. He leads the team in RBI, home runs and batting average, but he’s not getting much help, especially from the pitchers. Minnesota’s team ERA is 4.85, which compared to the Yankees’ 3.66, doesn’t make for good reading.

New York is only 41-58 as a favourite, but with Jameson Taillon on the mound, they should be too classy for the visitors. Taillon is 7-4, and he is steady enough to extend the Yankees winning streak on Friday.

We expect bookmakers to have the Yankees around $1.55, which is a fair price given the form of both teams.

Miami Marlins vs Cincinnati Reds @ Great American Ball Park

The Reds have been the surprise package of the 2021 season, but they still need to play well from here on out to make the playoffs.

They are currently in second place in the National League Central behind Milwaukee, so a win over the Miami Marlins could help bridge the gap.

Cincinnati suffered a 2-1 loss to the Cubs on Wednesday, but that followed consecutive wins over Philadelphia and Chicago, so it has been playing good baseball.

Heading to the mound for the Reds is Luis Castillo, who is 6-12 with an ERA of 4.51. He has been expensive, especially with his command. Castillo has allowed 16 home runs and a whopping 59 walks, so that’s a concern.

Opposing him on the mound for the Marlins is Zach Thompson, who is 2-5 with a 2.91 ERA. He has pitched only 52.2 innings, but the main problem has been his lack of run production.

The Marlins have scored only 481 runs, compared to 616 for the Reds. The pitching has been solid, but teams that can’t hit struggle to win consistently in major league baseball.

Despite the lack of offensive production, we’re going with the Marlins to cause an upset. They are 45-35 as underdogs and the Reds are 25-42 as favourites.

New York Mets vs Los Angeles Dodgers @ Dodgers Stadium

The Mets are riding a losing streak at the wrong time of the season. They are now 59-60 after losing their last five games, which could cost them a chance of making the playoffs.

They were right in the thick of the action in the National League East, but now the Mets are 4.5 games behind Atlanta, so this is an important game.

It’s not going to be easy against the in-form Dodgers, who are riding a winning streak. They also send Walker Buehler to the mound, who is an impressive 12-2 with an ERA of 2.09.

The Cy Young contender is having a breakout season, and it will take a concentrated effort from the Mets to avoid another loss.

Beating the defending champions, who are 74-46, could seem impossible for the Mets and we think they will struggle. Not only are the Mets on a losing streak, but they’re facing one of the hottest teams in MLB.

Take the Dodgers as a safe bet to end the Friday multi.
