MLB Betting Tips

Los Angeles Angels vs Tampa Bay Rays @ Tropicana Field

The Tampa Bay Rays got back to winning form with an 8-2 win over Boston, which followed four consecutive losses.

They had been leading the American League East over the likes of the Red Sox and Yankees, but they’re now a half-game back and needing to gather momentum.

The win followed three consecutive extra innings losses. Two of the extra innings losses came by four runs, so they were a touch unlucky to lose heavily.

Los Angeles hasn’t been in great form either, after dropping three on the bounce. The Angels have also lost two of their last three games in extra innings, including a 9-3 result against the Giants.

Tampa Bay is 4-0 against Los Angeles this season and we don’t think the Angels will improve on that record on Saturday. The Rays are the better team and they have the better pitcher in Josh Fleming on the mound.

Given the attention Shohei Ohtani receives, punters should get value odds with the home side. There is always late money for the Angels, but at 36-38, they haven’t been a good bet this season.

Take the Rays to win in what should be an exciting and high-scoring contest.

New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox @ Fenway Park

We love a Yankees vs Red Sox series and the three-game series kicks off on Saturday.

Boston is four games ahead of the Yankees following a 1-1 split against the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this week. The Sox started the season well, which wasn’t expected from this unit.

Punters could have locked in juicy odds for the Red Sox to win the pennant, but those odds aren’t available now.

New York is 40-34 following four wins from its last five games. The Yankees scored an 8-1 win over Kansas City on Friday and that form should do them some good against their rivals. However, the Yankees have yet to beat Boston from three attempts this season.

The Red Sox scored 5-2, 7-3 and 6-5 wins, so they’re playing well against the East rivals and having Martin Perez on the mound helps. He is 5-4 with a 4.32 ERA, which is a solid record.

Domingo German heads to the mound for the Yankees after going 4-4. He has a lower ERA than Perez, but he has allowed 14 home runs and that’s a concern against a Sox team that has 92 homers on the season.

Boston is paying value odds and having home ground advantage is a bonus.

Oakland Athletics vs San Francisco Giants @ Oracle Park

The Giants have been one of the best teams to follow this season after going 48-26. They are riding a three-game winning streak where they outscored their opponents 25-5.

Brandon Crawford is having a huge season with 16 home runs and 49 RBI. San Francisco have been getting consistent production from numerous players, especially the pitchers.

The Giants have a team ERA of 3.22, which makes them awfully tough to beat. Johnny Cueto heads to the mound, and although his ERA is 4.05, he has a positive 5-3 record.

Opposing him for the 46-31 Athletics is Sean Manaea, who is 6-3 with a 3.01 ERA. He has been dealing good stuff, but Oakland is just 1-4 from its last five games, which is a concern.

Oakland is the early betting favorite and it’s 27-23 as a favourite. However, the Giants are 26-5 as an underdog and they represent value playing at home.

We can’t pass up underdog odds for the in-form team and with a 24-10 record at Oracle Park, we think the big bets will come for the Giants on Saturday.
