MLB Betting Tips
New York Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks @ Chase Field
The Mets looked stuck in the sand but have rattled off five consecutive wins to improve to 26-20. It has been a quality turnaround and the Diamondback are now in their sights.
Heading to the mound for the Mets is David Peterson, who is only 1-4. His ERA is 4.91, so there is room for improvement. However, he faces Madison Bumgarner, who has experience on his side.
The former top line pitcher is 4-5 this season, but has hasn’t had much run support from the Diamondbacks, who are 19-36.
It’s another long season for Arizona, which has lost four of its last five games, including a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Mets.
We thought the Mets would be firmer in the betting, so we’re happy to take the $1.85 line. It’s a fair price for a team trending in the right direction.
Bet: New York Mets to win @ $1.85 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees @ Yankee Stadium
The Rays are firing on all cylinders and they have been dominating the New York Yankees this season. They are 7-3 in the 10 games against the Yankees and will be confident of improving that record on Thursday.
Tampa Bay comes off a 3-1 win and sending Shane McClanahan to the mound won’t do its chances any harm. The youngster is 2-0 with a 3.29 ERA, and he has walked only seven batters this season.
Jordan Montgomery takes the mound for the Yankees and he has also been impressive. He is 2-1 and although more expensive, he’s still learning his craft.
We’re expecting a quality pitching battle, but we give the nod to the visitors. The Rays are leading the American League East and are 5.5 games ahead of the Yankees, so everything is going their way.
Punters get incredible value for the Rays, which are 22-5 as an underdog. The Yankees don’t play well as the favourite, so take the value odds with bookmakers. The $2.10 might not last long, so it could pay to lock it in as early as possible.
Bet: Tampa Bay Rays to win @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Washington Nationals vs Atlanta Braves @ Truist Park
The Washington Nationals are in desperate need of a win after losing five straight entering this game.
They suffered a 5-3 loss to the Braves in the first game of the series and scoring runs has been a giant struggle for this ball club. They have scored only six runs in their last five games, which is dreadful.
Atlanta has won three of its last five, but scored 22 runs in that period. That is a sizable difference and it should factor into the odds.
Bookmakers have yet to release odds for this game, but the Braves should be favorites with Drew Smyly on the mound. He has had a mixed season, but he’s good enough to contain the struggling Nationals batting lineup.
Washington has scored just 188 runs compared to 248 for Atlanta. The Nationals have hit 49 home runs, which isn’t setting the world alight. Atlanta owns 81, so it has been hitting the cover off the ball.
Expect plenty of runs and for the Braves to win their seventh consecutive win over their National League East division rivals.
