MLB Betting Tips

Washington Nationals vs New York Yankees @ Yankee Stadium

It was a slow start for the New York Yankees, but after posting five consecutive wins, they’re starting to hit top gear.

The Yankees are at 16-15 and they’ll be keen to stay above .500 with a win over the Washington Nationals on Saturday. Recent wins have come over Detroit and Houston, including a comeback victory over the Astros on Thursday.

Washington’s form hasn’t been as impressive after losing consecutive games to Atlanta. They scored just four runs in two games and a better offensive production is needed to beat the Bronx Bombers.

The Nationals have a better batting average, but they have scored just 91 runs on 208 hits. New York has scored 123 runs on 221 hits, so they are much more efficient when players get on base.

Helping the Yankees is 39 home runs, which is 14 more than Washington. They have always relied on the long ball and although the baseballs are deadened this season, New York continues to hit well.

Jameson Taillon takes the mound for New York. He is 1-2 with an ERA of 5.24, but he ranks better than Patrick Corbin for Washington. Corbin is 1-3 with an ERA of 8.10.

The Yankees are firm favourites to win and we don’t disagree. They are playing terrific baseball at the moment and we’ll take the short odds to kick-off the three-teamer.

Cincinnati Reds vs Cleveland Indians @ Progressive Field

Cleveland looks to extend its winning streak to five when taking on the inconsistent Cincinnati Reds at Progressive Field.

The Indians head home after a long road trip, which ended with a sweep of the Kansas City Royals. The bats got going after scoring 20 runs across three games and that bodes well for this contest.

The offense needed to get a wriggle on as Cleveland was struggling to hit above .200. They haven’t scored well for most of the season, but breaking loose against the Royals could open the flood gates.

They’ll need to score runs against Cincinnati, as the Reds have the better pitcher. Cincinnati sends out Wade Miley, who is 3-2 with an ERA of 2.67 and a WHIP of 0.96.

He has performed considerably better than Zach Plesac, who is 2-3 with an ERA of 4.78. If Miley can keep pitching well, he will give the Reds a chance to score a rare win away from home.

They have just four wins on the road, but they come off a tough 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox. That performance was gritty and although inconsistent, they are dangerous when playing well.

Value is with the Reds as bookmakers have Cleveland as firm favourites. Due to the pitching matchup, we would happily take Reds at $2.25.

Philadelphia Phillies vs Atlanta Braves @ Truist Park

The Phillies have a 4-2 advantage over Atlanta and they have hit form at the right time after three consecutive wins over Milwaukee.

It looked as though Philadelphia was in for a long season after losing consecutive games to the Mets, but wins over the Brewers have righted the ship.

They now head to Atlanta to face a team getting back to its best. The Braves lost all three games to Toronto, but scored back-to-back wins over the Washington Nationals to improve to 14-16.

It hasn’t been an easy season for the Braves, but the talent is there. Ronald Acuna Jr has lived up to the hype with 10 home runs and 21 RBI, but his teammates need to lift.

On the mound for the Braves is Charlie Morton, and although he has struggled to date, he’s classy at best. The former Pirate has allowed 12 walks from 33.2 innings, so better control is needed against Philadelphia.

However, we believe he’s still a quality pitcher and bookmakers expect Atlanta to score a win at home.

Bet: Atlanta Braves to win @ $1.64Bet @ Sportsbet
