Atlanta Braves vs Houston Astros Game 1
The Houston Astros are back for more World Series success after winning in 2017, which was marred in controversy. There hasn’t been any controversy this time around, so they could right the wrongs of their past.
Atlanta hasn’t won the World Series since 1995, so it has been a long time between drinks. The Braves will have to win on the road to win the series, and it starts on Wednesday with Charlie Morton on the mound.
Morton went 14-6 during the season, but he comes off a rough outing against the Dodgers. He threw five innings for three wins and two hits, which is a rough outing for Morton’s standards. He has allowed two runs in each of his last three games, so he will need to tighten the screws.
Opposing him on the mound is Framber Valdez, who went 11-6 with an ERA of 3.14. He hasn’t been a stunning pitcher for the Astros, but he pitched eight innings against the Red Sox and allowed only one run last week.
They matchup evenly in the pitching department, but Houston has a more potent hitting lineup. The Astros have a better team average, more runs, more hits and a better slugging percentage.
Yordan Alvarez and Yuri Gurriel provide a good one-two punch, especially Alvarez, who has 104 RBI and 33 home runs.
The Braves also have power hitters in Freedie Freeman and Austin Riley, so they should be able to compete in Game 1.
Bookmakers have Houston at $1.71 and we’re happy to take those odds. The Astros are 51-30 at home, and they looked excellent in winning their last three games against the Red Sox.

World Series Game 1 Exotic Predictions
There are many exotic betting options available for punters for Game 1, including to hit a home run, player performance doubles and hits markets.
Our first bet is on Alex Bregman to hit a home run. The Astro lives for the big games, and he could hit an early home run against the heat of Charlie Morton. Punters get $5 for Bregman to go deep at any time during the game, which is worth taking.
Alvarez is $3.86 to hit a home run, which is a solid saver bet.
There is also a player performance double for Valdez to strike out four and Houston win. We are confident he’ll be able to go at least four strikeouts, and the $2.50 is an added boost from the $1.71 for the Astros to win outright.
Punters can also find value in the hits market. He is paying short odds, but $1.36 for Austin Riley to have a hit should be money for jam. He is the best offensive threat for the Braves, and there is value for Riley to have two or more hits at $3.50.
Our only worry is that he’ll be walked a couple of times, but we don’t think Houston will avoid throwing to him in the opening game of the World Series.
Jose Altuve is a good bet to have two or more hits. He often leads off in style, and the $2.40 reflects his chances.
