Mateusz Gamrot vs. Quillan Salkilld Prediction

Mateusz Gamrot picked up a submission win back in April and now fights the in-form Quillan Salkilld, who has gone on a five-fight winning streak in the Octagon so far.

The 35-year-old Gamrot has earned a number of big wins during his 9-4 UFC run over the likes of Arman Tsarukyan, Rafael Fiziev, Rafael dos Anjos and Jalin Turner, but only going 2-2 over the past couple of years has dented his title hopes for the time being. Gamrot is a well-rounded, hard working and well-conditioned fighter who tends to excel when he can bring his assured chain-wrestling game into play, transitioning nicely from striking to takedowns, and he has strong control on top. Gamrot is also comfortable grappling and can offer a submission threat as well as ground-and-pound. Meanwhile, on the feet Gamrot isn’t all that potent, but he likes to use his cardio to apply pressure and stays active with solid fundamentals, and though he can be hurt he’s never been finished by strikes.

The 26-year-old Salkilld emerged from the Contender Series back in late 2024 with a 7-1 record and has impressed since then, with four of his five victories so far coming in the 1st round and earning him ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards. Salkilld has good athleticism and has proven to be a threat both on the feet and on the mat.  During his time in the Octagon he seems to have really homed in on his power to deliver some big finishes, including KO’ing Nasrat Haqparast with a head kick and TKO’ing Beneil Dariush with punches in the past year.  It’s also worth noting that sandwiched in-between those two wins he submitted Jamie Mullarkey as well. Salkilld will have a 2″ height and 4″ reach advantage here and has shown good accuracy and varied combination work on the feet, while he’s a confident wrestler too, is a submission threat and has so far shown capable takedown defense.

Salkilld’s last fight against Dariush looked like being a major test, but his opponent’s drastically declining durability had an impact on the early outcome. As such Gamrot now looks to be a fighter who can really offer him a robust challenge.  I certainly favor Salkilld’s striking game here and if he can land use his size and power early to deter Gamrot from closing the distance that will bode well for him.  Gamrot’s chain-wrestling and cardio could really test him as the fight goes on though, so this is definitely a challenging match-up for both men.  Salkilld is more than just a striker though, and that’s why I’m leaning towards him here to not become overwhelmed by the wrestling exchanges, while landing the more damaging strikes on the feet to come away with a decision win.

Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Billy Quarantillo Prediction

Carlos Diego Ferreira and Billy Quarantillo both come into this co-main event match-up after suffering back-to-back defeats.

Ferreira is now 41-years-old, but is resisting the urge to hang up his gloves despite having only won twice in his last seven UFC bouts over the past five years. In fairness, those back-to-back wins in 2023-2024 were actually good, KO’ing Michael Johnson and Mateusz Rebecki, while his losses have also being against very respectable opposition. Ferreira is a crafty veteran who has always been a good all-rounder with active striking, capable wrestling and skilled BJJ, and at one stage earlier in his 12-year-old UFC campaign that took him on a notable six-fight winning streak. However, his durability has become more of a concern over time, with three of his last four losses being by strikes, while his cardio can be inconsistent.

Quarantillo is no spring chicken either at 37-years-old and is returning after a year-and-a-half out injured due to tearing his meniscus. Unlike Ferreira, Quarantillo has never been able to put together a real run of form in the Octagon, spending most of his time in the promotion alternating between wins and losses. At his best Quarantillo seeks to overwhelm opponents by pushing a hard pace with high-volume striking, together with decent offensive wrestling and a submission threat. However, he’s not the most technical on the feet, and his questionable defense has started to catch up with him as he’s been KO’d twice in his last four fights.

There’s opportunities for both fighters here, but while Quarantillo could find success if he can drain his opponent’s cardio in the later rounds, I think the technically superior Ferreira will trouble him with his better power on the feet and then capitalize on the mat for a 2nd round submission finish.

Darren Elkins vs. Yadier del Valle Prediction

Darren Elkins was TKO’d in the 1st round of his only fight last year and now tries to bounce back against Yadier del Valle, who is 2-1 in the UFC after a decision loss last time out.

Known as ‘The Damage’, Elkins has specialized in grizzly, blood-soaked wars of attrition throughout his 16-year UFC career, and has the scars to prove it. As such it’s remarkable that he’s still competing at 42-years-of-age, but it’s inevitable that it’s taken a toll on him and so he is distinctly less durable than he once was and has revealed he plans to hang up his gloves after this bout. He’s never lost his heart and gritty determination though, and so he can still be a handful to deal with on the mat due to his dogged wrestling and occasional submission threat. And while he’s been finished five times via strikes in his career, he’s only been submitted once.

The 31-year-old Valle, known as ‘The Cuban Problem’ was unbeaten in ten fights up until his last fight against Jordan Leavitt. His UFC run got off to a good start last year with back-to-back 1st round submission victories via rear-naked choke, though only two of other career wins have been subs. He’s also a decent boxer too, albeit without much stopping power, and can wrestle too. Valle can pace himself over three-rounds when required and has never been finished in his career to date.

If Valle just goes all out looking for a submission he could run into problems here against a grinder like Elkins. However, even though Valle doesn’t have much power on the feet, he’s a decade younger and should be able to take advantage of his speed and his opponent’s weakened chin to find success and deliver a rare win via strikes.

Amanda Lemos vs. Alexia Thainara Prediction

Amanda Lemos comes in off back-to-back defeats to fight Alexia Thainara, who is 3-0 in the Octagon so far.

Lemos is now 39-years-old and has only won twice in her last six UFC appearances, though it should be noted that three of her four losses came against former or current strawweight title challengers, while the other was against ex-champ Weili Zhang. Lemos has solid boxing with respectable accuracy and power, though her volume has been declining at this late stage in her career. Lemos is also capable in the clinch and will seek out openings for opportunistic submission attempts. She can be taken down at times though, and has been submitted twice during her overall 9-6 UFC run.

The 28-year-old Thainara holds an overall 14-1 career record and hasn’t lost since being submitted by Bruna Brasil seven years ago.  Coincidentally she just avenged that defeat back in March when she beat Brasil by unanimous decision. Thainara is a powerful strawweight who lacks technical refinement on the feet, but makes up for it with strong clinch-work, judo throws and a competent grappling game that’s delivered 8 wins by submission so far.

Lemos has the striking edge here, but I think Thainara can overpower her in the clinch and on the mat to win by unanimous decision.

Alexia Thainara to win by decision

Billy Ray Goff vs. Ty Cole Miller Prediction

Billy Ray Goff comes in off back-to-back defeats to fight Ty Miller, who is a perfect 7-0 (+1nc) in his career so far, including a 1st round TKO victory in his UFC debut back in January.

The 28-year-old Goff joined the UFC from the Contender Series in 2022 and started brightly, winning his promotional debut by 1st round TKO. He’s only been fighting once a year since then though, and things haven’t been going his way, losing by unanimous decision to Trey Waters in 2024 and then being submitted in the 1st round by Ramiz Brahimaj in May of last year. Goff is a kickboxer with a brawling mentality, looking to impose his will with his pressure, high-volume striking and willingness to eat strikes to land his own. And he has had success with that strategy as seven of his nine career victories were by strikes, but it should be noted he’s willing to mix in the occasional strategic takedown as well. However, Goff isn’t much of a submission threat on the mat, and was submitted for the first time in his career by a guillotine choke in his latest bout.

Another Contender Series recruit, the 26-year-old Miller is a tall welterweight who will have a 4″ height and 5″ reach advantage over Goff on Saturday night. Like Goff, Miller is a high-volume kickboxer, but he’s a bit cleaner technically and will use his size to fight on the outside. His defense still needs work though as even at that range he can be hit. Meanwhile he showed last time out that his knees can be an effective weapon at closer quarters to back-up his solid punches and kicks. He also has respectable takedown defense to try to keep the fight where he wants it, while on the mat he’s yet to register a submission win.

Goff has perhaps shown off a bit more raw stopping power, but I feel Miller’s size advantage and better striking fundamentals will enable him to stop his opponent from getting into brawling range as much as he would like here and will tag him with enough offense along the way to win by decision.
