We have NBA picks and predictions for Sunday, April 19th, which features the Timberwolves vs. Nuggets, Hawks vs. Knicks, and Rockets vs. Lakers.
Our picks include a best bet and NBA same game multi, and we’re looking forward to the NBA action this week.
Timberwolves vs. Nuggets Best Bet
The Nuggets are arguably the better team, but we predict a close game to start this playoff series.
The Timberwolves scored a win over the Nuggets in their most recent meeting, and the prior game was won by the Nuggets in overtime. There is little between them, and punters get the Timberwolves at +6.5, which is a healthy line.
Our NBA predictions have this game going down to the wire in the fourth quarter.
Timberwolves vs. Nuggets SGM
Anthony Edwards could be set for a big NBA playoff campaign, and it would be a long time coming. He is a good bet at over 25.5 points in Game 1.
Nikola Jokic doesn’t know how to play a bad game. He had 23 points in limited minutes earlier this week, when he only needed to play 20 minutes. He’s all class, so include over 28.5 points.
A high-scoring game is predicted, so include over 231.5 points.
Hawks vs. Knicks Best Bet
The Knicks are 10-0 in their last 10 games against Eastern Conference opponents as the favourites, and playing at Madison Square Garden helps their cause.
We have them comfortably beating the Hawks in Game 1, and although the Hawks have upside, there is too much depth with the Knicks, who have Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns leading the way.
Most of the money has come for the Hawks to keep it close but look for the Knicks to pull away in the second half with a late scoring surge.
Hawks vs. Knicks SGM
Our NBA predictions have Towns having a big scoring night. He is showing up inside and outside the paint, which makes him tough to defeat. Include KAT over 20.5 points in NBA SGM picks.
Dyson Daniels could struggle with the pressures of playoff basketball. He does the little things well, but the Aussie should have under 11.5 points.
It’s a low line from bookies at 216.5 points, so back the over.
Rockets vs. Lakers Best Bet
The Lakers might be missing a couple of key players, but we don’t trust the Rockets to cover a –5.5 spread on the road. Therefore, we are locking in Lakers +5.5.
They don’t have Luka Doncic or Austin Reaves, which is a fair chunk of scoring power. However, they have LeBron James, who is showing age is no barrier this season. They also have good role players, so that’s ideal.
Kevin Durant’s playoff record outside of his years at Golden State is marginal at best, and we don’t see him leading the Rockets to victory.
Rockets vs. Lakers SGM
James typically leads by example, so back him to have over 25.5 points. He has gone over this total in three of his last four games, so the NBA stats make good reading.
A player the Lakers could do with having a good game is Rui Hachimura. He can land a few three-pointers, which should see his scoring total go over 13.5 points.
The 206.5-point line is too low to be true, so jump on it.
