Brooklyn Nets vs Dallas Mavericks @ American Airlines Center
The Dallas Mavericks have been poor this season. They have lost four of their last five games to fall to 11-11, so something needs to change.
The problem has been finding a secondary shooter to accompany Luka Doncic, who is being asked for far too much. Doncic is averaging 25.4 points per game and he’s the only Maverick who is worth guarding.
Kristaps Porzingis has done another disappearing act and it’s not good enough, so the Brooklyn Nets could swoop and take advantage on Wednesday.
Brooklyn held a good lead over Chicago on Monday but were run down in the fourth quarter. The Nets are still 16-7, so punters should be expecting a bounce back effort from the Eastern Conference favourites.
The Nets have too much scoring for the Mavericks to withstand. Doncic will need to drop 50 points to have a chance and we don’t see that happening.
Value odds could be available for the Nets on the road.

New York Knicks vs San Antonio Spurs @ AT&T Center
The New York Knicks have been an enigma this season and they are heading in the wrong direction.
It was a good start for the Knicks, but with four losses from their last five games, they’ll need to turn things around quickly.
They haven’t been playing easy teams, including the Suns, Nets, Bulls and Nuggets, but they have scored below 100 points in two of those games.
Julius Randle has seen his average drop to 20.1 points and there doesn’t seem to be any flow, which is a big concern. Kemba Walker has been dropped to the bench, so their off-season signing hasn’t done his job.
The Spurs are only 8-13 but they’re trending in the right direction. They have won their last four games, including an upset victory over the red-hot Golden State Warriors.
They have beaten the Celtics, Wizards, Trail Blazers and Warriors, so there is a distinct confidence with this team.
Punters will get value odds for the Spurs at home, so they’re worth including in your NBA Wednesday selections.

Boston Celtics vs Los Angeles Lakers @ STAPLES Center
It has been good to see the Boston Celtics start to play better basketball after a rough opening couple of months.
The Celtics have improved to 13-11 following a 145-117 win over Portland, and they face a Lakers team struggling with consistency.
The Lakers are 12-12 following a loss to the Clippers. They have been beating the easier teams on the schedule, but struggling to beat playoff-bound teams.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis haven’t been combining well, but Russell Westbrook has improved his form considerably over the last two weeks.
The Lakers need Westbrook to continue playing well, otherwise they’re in danger of falling below .500.
Boston would love to notch a win over the Western Conference Lakers. It hasn’t had a statement win so far in 2021, so the Celtics should be up for this game.
We give the slight edge to the visitors, who will be paying generous odds with bookmakers. They are playing well enough to cause an upset in Los Angeles, especially if Jayson Tatum gets hot from outside.
Tatum is averaging 25.2 points per game and he’s only getting warmed up. Expect the small forward to have a big outing.
