The Rockets have been trending positively over the last few years, as they have built up their young talent. However, they haven’t had a good senior superstar to guide them to a deep playoff run. That changes this year with Durant in the mix, and his elite scoring could take them to the next level.

There is good value with the Rockets, who will need to beat the likes of Oklahoma City and Denver to make the NBA Finals, but they’re capable, and the $11 odds are worth taking.

Cleveland Cavaliers @ $9.00

The Eastern Conference looks softer than the West, and that could see the Cleveland Cavaliers make the NBA Finals.

The one-two punch of Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley need to fire during the playoffs, especially when coming up against tough defensive teams in the Knicks and Celtics. However, they are a team that is largely dependable during the regular season.

We expect the Cavaliers’ odds to firm throughout the year, especially if they post the best record in the East. The $9 could shorten to around $4 before the playoffs, so jump on the price.

Minnesota Timberwolves @ $14.00

The Timberwolves are a team that love to tease their supporters with a title, but they typically come up short in the playoffs. We need to see more from Anthong Edwards in the big time, especially if he compares him to Michael Jordan.

Getting Julius Randle should help their offence, and if Ruby Gobert changes his attitude and plays for a full season, they could be tough to beat at both ends of the floor. Mike Conley and Randle have enough experience to take this team to the promise land, so we’re happy with the odds.

Include them in your NBA picks this season at $14.

Boston Celtics @ $61.00

Picklebet is being overly generous with the Boston Celtics at $61. Most bookmakers have them at $31 to win, and both prices are worth taking.

We’re not sure why they have fallen out of favour with the books, but any team with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the roster shouldn’t be at those odds. They might have lost some pieces, but the heart of their team is there.

The major issue is the health status of Tatum, who isn’t expected to play for most of the year due to an achillies injury. However, the team is optimistic he will play at some point, and the Celtics only need to be a playoff spot for him to have an impact.

It’s a risky bet but watch Brown have an outstanding year in the scoring department without Tatum on the floor.

NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP)

Anthony Edwards @ $23.00

Current favourite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the obvious choice due to his scoring ability, but Anthony Edwards could have a bigger impact for the Timberwolves.

He’s desperate for a breakout season after being close over the last few years, and if the T-Wolves post a good record, he should be right in contention for the MVP title. Punters get $23 odds, which are worth snapping up.

SGA is a $2.80 favourite ahead of Nikola Jokic at $3.40, but those odds are too short. We expect them to struggle compared to the last few years, and Edwards is waiting in the wings.

NBA Rookie of the Year

Cooper Flagg @ $1.55

The odds might be short for Cooper Flagg to win Rookie of the Year, but just like Wemby in 2024, he only needs to stay on the court to win the title.

He’s one of the more talented rookies in recent history, and the systems in Dallas should allow him to flourish, especially without Luka Doncic on the floor. That will allow Flagg to take over the scoring duties, and his stats will be impressive.

Any injury can shut down a rookie for the year, but Flagg isn’t as fragile as the likes of Wemby and Chet Holmgren, so he should play the full season, and he’s light years above any rookie in the betting market.
