Punters can see in the New Year with some terrific NBA action this Wednesday.
The New Year’s Day card is packed full of quality games, including 76ers vs. Pacers, Nuggets vs. Rockets and Mavericks vs. Thunder.
Action starts nice and early at 7am with the 76ers vs. Pacers. Here are our NBA betting tips!
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Indiana Pacers @ Bankers Life Fieldhouse
The Pacers are looking to hold home court advantage when the Philadelphia 76ers come into town on Wednesday.
Both teams are on a bit of a slide after dropping consecutive games but the situation is worse for the Pacers.
Not only did they lose to the Heat and Pelicans last week, they lost top scorer Malcolm Brogden. He is needed when already don’t have Victor Oladipo.
Without Brogden in the squad, we’re not sure where the points are going to come from for this Pacers team.
They are 21-12 overall and 14-3 at home, which includes a win over Toronto in overtime last week. They are riding a winning streak at home but that could all change here.
The 76ers lost to the Magic and Heat in consecutive games. Both losses came by a point and not being able to close out close games is a problem.
Philadelphia has an overall record of 23-12 but 10 of those losses have come on the road. They simply don’t have the depth of talent to win consistency on the road.
The last time these two teams met it was the 76ers who came out ahead 119-116. Indiana could turn the tables but they would need a healthy unit to do so.
Stick with the 76ers as their form should start to turnaround.

Denver Nuggets vs. Houston Rockets @ Toyota Centre
Word on the street is that the Houston Rockets are looking to trade Russell Westbrook. If that’s true, we’re ensure the team is going to be in the right frame of mind for this game.
Westbrook has done well since arriving in Houston but his lack of jump shooting ability isn’t ideal for this team.
Westbrook, Harden and Capela are all listed as day-to-day for this game but we’re expecting at least two of them to play, if not all three.
Trade rumours came after the Rockets were shocked by Golden State last week. Poor losses will come in the season, but it doesn’t mean you need to panic and start trading off your best players.
Denver comes into this game with four wins from their last five games. Their 22-9 record is steadily improving and they scored an emphatic win over the Lakers last week.
Punters could have a tough time deciding who to bet on for this game. Houston has a 11-4 home record but the Nuggets have a positive record when playing on the road.
If we see improvement from Nikola Jokic and James Harden scores to his average of 38.3 points per game, we’re in for a high scoring contest.
If it becomes a shoot-out, we have to give the edge to the Houston Rockets. The Nuggets are defensively better but scored eight points less per game.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder @ Chesapeake Energy Arena
Punters have been a little surprised by the form of the Oklahoma City Thunder this season.
They have virtually no TV time yet have amassed a record of 16-15. Led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chris Paul and big man Steven Adams, the Thunder have won four of their last five games.
That included a big upset win over the LA Clippers and it put them firmly in contention for a playoff spot, albeit early in the season.
They’re about to come up against one of the best teams in the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks are 21-10 and they have been winning without Luka Doncic.
He’s back in the side now and after scoring consecutive wins over the Spurs and Warriors, they’re back to their best.
Doncic is averaging 29.1 points per game and the European star can do just about anything on the basketball court.
He leads his team in the three majority statistical categories and he’s currently one of the best players in the NBA.
Even know the Thunder are playing well, we’re going with Dallas to score a convincing win.
