NBA Betting Tips

Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns @ Phoenix Suns Arena

The status of Chris Paul is unknown, but his absence didn’t make much difference for Phoenix in Game 1.

The Suns scored a 120-114 victory, which was an incredible offensive effort. Scoring 120 points on this Clippers defence shouldn’t be overlooked and it’s a good sign for the impressive Suns.

Devin Booker had 40 points on 15-29 shooting and he has come of age in the playoffs. The shooting guard recorded a triple-double after grabbing 13 rebounds and providing 11 assists. It was one of the most dominant playoff performances in recent history.

It wasn’t all about Booker as his teammates provided plenty of punch. De’Andre Ayton was a beast in the paint with 20 points on 10-14 shooting. Having Ayton show aggression in the paint is a huge bonus for the Suns and it could win them the series.

Jae Crowder, Mikal Bridges and Cam Payne all scored double digits, so it was a team effort for the home side and we can expect more of the same on Wednesday.

Life without Kawhi Leonard won’t be easy for the Clippers. Paul George is doing his best to keep them in the hunt after scoring 34 points, but they missed Leonard’s defensive prowess in the opening game.

Allowing Phoenix to score 120 points isn’t a way to win playoff games. If the Clippers want to avoid going 0-2 down, they will need to sure up the defence and force Phoenix to shoot over them.

They could also do with more production from Marcus Morris and Nicholas Batum. They combined for only 11 points and only three Clippers players scored in double digits.

Bookmakers have Phoenix at $1.39 to win and we wouldn’t bet against a Suns win. They are the better team and getting Paul back would be a huge bonus. If he is confirmed to play, expect the current line of 6.5 points to move considerably.

Bet: Phoenix Suns –6.5 @ $1.97Bet @ Sportsbet

Atlanta Hawks vs Milwaukee Bucks @ Fiserv Forum

The Bucks put their playoff demons to rest when beating the Brooklyn Nets in seven games. However, they got some help.

Brooklyn had Kyrie Irving off the court, and although James Harden played, he could barely get into stride, so the Bucks didn’t have two threats to worry about.

We’re not discrediting their Conference Semifinals win, but Atlanta has multiple scoring threats and it won’t be an easy matchup for the Bucks.

Atlanta is led by the superb shooting from Trae Young, who is the younger version of Steph Curry. He has no conscience and although he shot poorly in the Game 7 win over Philadelphia, he came up clutch when it mattered.

The Hawks have won of the best spread offences in the NBA, which includes Kevin Huerter, Bojan Bogdanovic, John Collins and Danilo Gallinari. They also have Clint Capela in the paint, bit he’s our biggest worry in this matchup.

Capela will have to guard Giannis Antetokounmpo, and he’s not the most physical or agile paint defender. We expect The Greek Freak to score with ease throughout the series, so it will be his supporting cast that needs to step up.

We also expect to see plenty of fouls on Antetokounmpo. He has been dreadful from the line, so expect Atlanta to make him earn his points.

The Hawks get +6.5 points from bookmakers and we’re happy to take those odds. They are a confident team and although the Bucks are never easy to beat at home, Atlanta defeated Philadelphia in consecutive road games.

They could steal a road win in Game 1, but take the points for insurance. Punters can also find value in individual markets. We think Trae Young and Giannis Antetokounmpo could have big scoring nights.

Bet: Atlanta Hawks +6.5 @ $1.96Bet @ Sportsbet
