NBA Betting Tips
Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks @ Fiserv Forum
The Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the more consistent teams this season and we thought they would be shorter in the betting.
They have a 26-10 record at home and the Heat have a 19-17 record away from home, so the $1.52 is there to be taking.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready to have a big playoff series and although Milwaukee needs to find another gear, it’s possible. The Bucks have been strengthened by past playoff failures and 2021 could be their time to shine.
Miami finished its season well to make the playoffs, winning four of its last five regular season games. The Heat scored two huge wins over Boston and that could set the tone for the playoffs.
They have enough scoring power to stick with Milwaukee and the return of Tyler Herro is a big addition. He provides one-on-one scoring ability and Miami comes off a finals bid last season, so they’re used to the pressure.
It should be a close series, but we have Milwaukee to take the opening game. Playing at home is a big bonus and there is excellent value in the opening betting line.
Take the $1.52 and the –4.5 for more value.
Bet: Milwaukee Bucks –4.5 @ $1.90
Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Clippers @ STAPLES Centre
It comes as no surprise to see the Clippers listed as favourites, but we don’t think there is much value in the $1.45 price.
We think the Dallas Mavericks could test the Clippers in this series and cause a big upset. They are good enough to compete and with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis playing at their best, it could all click over the next few weeks.
Many people are writing off Dallas because of their bench scoring, which can be non-existent at times. However, we expect Doncic to play big minutes and the likes of Jaylen Brunson and Tim Hardaway Jr have been playing better.
Matching up against the likes of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George isn’t easy, but there isn’t much of a team spirit with the Clippers. They have been put together and they weren’t impressive in the playoffs last season.
We expect the Mavericks to make a statement in Game 1 and although the $2.76 head-to-head price is risky, taking the +5 points is a much safer option.
Look for Doncic to be the top scorer and lead Dallas to a victory.
Bet: Dallas Mavericks +5 @ $1.90
Boston Celtics vs Brooklyn Nets @ Barclays Centre
Boston survived the play-in game against Washington and it was a much-needed win for its confidence.
The Celtics had been struggling with their identity for most of the season, but step in Jayson Tatum, who scored 50 points in a terrific effort.
It was good to see for Tatum score 50 points, but he’s unlikely to keep that up against the Nets. Brooklyn doesn’t play much defense, but if Tatum needs to score that many points just to beat Washington, it doesn’t bode well.
The Brooklyn Nets are loaded with talented scorers and we’re expecting to see Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden on the court at the same time. It hasn’t happened for a long time, so the Nets are stacked.
With a 28-8 home record, the Nets will enjoy playing at Barclays Centre. According to reports they are having trouble selling tickets, but we’re expecting the home crowd to turn up in full force.
The Nets are 8.5-point favorites and that’s where we priced them. They are the dominant team in the East and given Boston’s consistency struggles, we are picking the Nets to score a double-digit victory.
Take the –8.5, but for more value, take Brooklyn 11+ at $2.29 for a juicier price.
Bet: Brooklyn Nets –8.5 @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
