NBA Betting Tips – Wednesday May 26th, 2021

We have betting picks and predictions for three NBA playoff games this Wednesday, including Celtics vs Nets, Lakers vs Suns, and Mavericks vs Clippers.

The Nets game went to plan for favourite backers, but the Suns and Mavericks provided upsets in Game 1.

Bookmakers are offering plenty of value for all three games and we have our best value bets.

NBA Betting Tips

Boston Celtics vs Brooklyn Nets @ Barclays Centre

The Boston Celtics pushed the Nets for most of the first game, but the class of Brooklyn came through in the second half.

In a series that is capable of being over in four games, we’re not surprised to see the Nets listed as favorites for Game 2.

Kevin Durant had a game-high 32 points, followed closely by Kyrie Irving with 29 and James Harden with 21 points. The Nets are awfully tough to beat when the three-headed dragon all scored above 20 points, which could be the case again on Wednesday.

Joe Harris chimed in with 10 points and although the bench had only 11 points, they weren’t needed in the 104-93 victory.

All the talk was about Brooklyn’s offence, but the defence stood up. Allowing Boston to score only 93 points is a fine defensive effort, so more is needed from the likes of Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart.

Tatum scored 22 points in his 41 minutes. He is entitled to be tired, but without Jaylen Brown, the Celtics are limited offensively.

Bookmakers have the Nets at –9.5 and although that’s a sizable line, they should be far too good for the visitors.

Bet: Brooklyn Nets –9.5 @ $1.90Bet @ Sportsbet

Los Angeles Lakers vs Phoenix Suns @ Phoenix Suns Arena

We’re not why the Lakers were favoured to win the opening game. They have struggled this season and LeBron James isn’t fully healthy.

Adding to their woes, Anthony Davis had just 13 points on 5-16 shooting and it’s not good enough from an All-Star player.

The Lakers look beat up and not amount of complaining to the refs will change the result. Therefore, we’re again surprised at the bookmakers’ odds.

Phoenix is paying $2.02 to take a 2-0 lead and we didn’t see any reason to jump off its back. The Suns played well in the 99-90 win and Devin Booker couldn’t have been better in this playoff debut.

He scored 34 points and was helped with 21 from De’Andre Ayton and eight assists from Chris Paul, who is the floor general.

Keeping James and Davis to under 20 points is a recipe for success and although we don’t discount the class of the defending champions, we don’t like their chances.

2021 has been packed with concerns regarding this aging team and those concerns are starting to materialise in the playoffs.

Kyle Kuzma failed to score in Game 1 and they put up only 76 shots, compared to 86 from Phoenix. That’s a significant difference, so we’re not surprised by the result.

$2.02 for the Suns is a terrific price and don’t underestimate playing in front of a home crowd.

Bet: Phoenix Suns to win @ $2.02Bet @ Sportsbet

Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Clippers @ STAPLES Centre

We correctly predicted Dallas winning the opening game and the Mavericks aren’t getting any respect with bookmakers again.

When Luka Doncic plays well, the Mavericks are awfully tough to beat. That was the case in Game 1 when Doncic dropped 31 points on 11/24 shooting, which was better than the Clippers Kawhi Leonard who scored 26 points.

The 10-point Dallas win showed how competitive it can be against the Clippers and we expect another excellent game on Wednesday.

We are also expecting the Clippers to play better. Only two players had a positive plus/minus (Serge Ibaka and Reggie Jackson), so more is needed from the core players. Paul George and Leonard played over 40 minutes each, so they didn’t get much rest.

The biggest difference was from the three-point line, where the Clippers shot it at 27.5%. Dallas shot it at 47.2%, so there is a distinct difference. If the Clippers are poor from behind the arc, expect a similar result.

Dallas gets +6.5 points from bookmakers and we’re not turning that down. It’s easily good enough to win this game, so take the points for insurance.

Bet: Dallas Mavericks +6.5 @ $1.90Bet @ Sportsbet
