We have NBA picks and predictions for Wednesday, May 27th, which features Game 5 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder, which is tied at 2-2.

Spurs vs. Thunder Best Bet

We have the Spurs winning Game 5 outright, but we’ll happily take the +5.5 line. It was great seeing them bounce back with a win in Game 4, and although beating OKC on the road isn’t easy, they look well-placed to cause an upset.

Victor Wembanyama is having a breakout performance during the finals, and he’s playing to the level we all knew he could. He is showing up MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who isn’t getting as many foul calls as usual, and he scored only 19 points on Sunday.

Playing at home usually gives OKC a few more points, but we’re not convinced they’re the best team in this series. The defending champions scored only 82 points in Game 4, so if SGA doesn’t get hot, they struggle to score.

If the Spurs limit their turnovers, which have been high, they should cover the spread. Taking care of the ball and getting more possessions is crucial to their chances and we have them returning home for Game 6 with a 3-2 lead.

Spurs vs. Thunder SGM

We have backed Wembayama in most games this post-season, and he hasn’t let us down often. He has totals of 41, 21, 26, and 33 during this series, and he’s starting to heat up to astronomical levels. We have him scoring 30+ points in Game 5, and the Thunder defence hasn’t found a way to slow him down.

Cason Wallace didn’t have an effective performance in Game 4 when scoring just five points. The Thunder bench didn’t live up to expectations, and it could be a similar performance on Thursday. We don’t trust Wallace to come up with the goods for the Thunder, and 8.5 points is far too high for him.

Our final score prediction has the Spurs winning 114-110, so we have over 216.5 points in our NBA SGM picks. The line has been around that mark throughout the series, but the Thunder are unlikely to score under 100 points in consecutive games. It should be a high-scoring contest where they trade buckets, so include the over.
