We have NBA picks and predictions for Tuesday, May 6th, which features the Cavaliers vs. Pistons and Lakers vs. Thunder.

The Pistons survived a big scare against the Magic, coming from 3-1 down to win 4-3. It was a tough performance, but they should be better for the experience.

They are the top seed in the Eastern Conference, and with the Boston Celtics out of the equation, the Pistons should fancy their chances of progressing to the NBA Finals. They must get past the Cavaliers, but we expect a Game 1 victory

Detroit has a physical team, and the Cavaliers don’t play well in physical matchups. With the Pistons playing at home, they should be too good for the visitors, and punters get a better line than expected at –3.5.

Cavaliers vs. Pistons SGM

Pistons –3.5, Cade Cunningham Over 28.5 Points, Donovan Mitchell Under 25.5 Points, Under 215.5 Points @ $8.00

Cade Cunningham can establish himself as one of the best players in the game with a big Game 1 showing. He had an excellent first series, scoring totals of 45, 32, and 32 points in his last three games, so we’re backing him to score over 28.5 points.

Donovan Mitchell could struggle to put points on the board against a physical defence. He had a disappointing series against Toronto, and although he made shots at the right time, he lacked consistency.

Under 215.5 points is worth including in NBA SGM picks. We expect a low-scoring affair where defence will take centre stage.

Lakers vs. Thunder Best Bet

Thunder –15.5 @ $1.90

It’s a big margin to cover, but the Thunder are the best team in the NBA, and they’re fresh and ready to produce a big performance.

They rolled through the Suns without a care in the world, and they didn’t need to get out of second gear to get past the first round. The Lakers will be a harder task, but they have an excellent record against Los Angeles.

Without Luka Doncic, the Lakers will struggle to keep up offensively, and the likes of LeBron James and Austin Reaves would need to have a big game. It’s a safer bet to back the Thunder –15.5, and the line could move higher close to tip-off.

Lakers vs. Thunder SGM

Thunder -15.5, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 31.5 Points, Austin Reaves Under 20.5 Points, Over 213.5 Points @ $8.00

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is likely to win MVP again, and he could make an impact in the opening game. He comes off totals of 37, 42, and 31 points, so he’s playing well, and he could live at the free throw line once again.

Reaves hasn’t had many games back from an injury layoff, and his line is too high. We’re backing Reaves under 20.5 points as one of our best NBA SGM bets.

We have the Thunder scoring close to 120 points, which should be enough to see the game total go over 213.5 points.
